Amazing food and service. Highly recommend the ceviche tasting platter to start with, as well as causa limena. The lomo saltado and skewers are very tasty.

I went tonight, I ordered 3 drinks, 2 Pisco sours and 1 maracuya sour, the Pisco sours were not good, not even nice, they were too bitter. I haven't eaten yet but will do tomorrow. The maracuya sour was good.

Peruvian done right. No cheap roasted chicken for this place. Cevice dominates the menu as it should, with creative options that makes you realize that sushi is not a monoply on raw fish.

Three of us had lunch there last Friday. Our waiter, Scott, was terrible. He stopped by our table and asked if we were ready to order. We said before ordering, we had a question about the menu. He then said he would have to come back and rushed off. When he returned, he seemed totally distracted, looking around and seemingly uninterested. We ordered and our food was fine (though a little pricey). We finished our lunch and ordered coffee. He never returned to ask if we wanted a refill, so we had to ask him for it. Again, he seemed in a rush to finish with our table. He certainly needs training.

The restaurant is beautiful, spacious, and perfect for our large party of 8. We ordered empanada sampler, cebiche la mar, cebiche power, lomo saltado, anticuchos de pollo to share and we all chose an entree. I do not remember all of the entrees, but they included pasta criolla, plancha marina, BBQ chicharron, arroz la mar, short ribs, and squid ink pasta. I loved that we were given plantain, sweet potato, and potato chips to munch on before our dishes arrived. I really enjoyed the cebiche, which were not overly sour. The meat and seafood were cooked well and flavor were not overpowering. Entrees are a decent size but the cebiches and appetizers are small. La Mar would be a great date location but I would opt to go in a group so you can try a little bit of everything. What I recommend: - cebiche la mar - empanadas

I am a big fan of Peruvian food. I come to find out that the original La Mar actually came from Peru and they have locations in Brazil, Mexico City, and...SAN FRANCISCO! On to the food: Ceviche, order any of them and all of them. Truly delicious, with great flavors and textures. The empanadas and causas were excellent as well. The yucca fries...Mmm! I can't remember one bad thing here. I would come back in a heartbeat.

Peru's famous Gastón Acurio brings high-end Peruvian to SF. Try it. It's not cheap, but it's some of the best Peruvian you'll try in CA.

The seafood here is very fresh, but portions can be small so we ordered a bunch of stuff and shared. The octopus dishes are exceptionally tender, and the cebiche (aka, ceviche) addictive.
