The People’s Climate March on Sunday in New York City and numerous other cities including Vancouver, promises to be the biggest day of protest in the history of the climate movement. Will Canadians turn out?

pressureNET is now live-streaming data. This app crowd-sources barometer readings from Android devices. With new privacy options in place they can now stream a large fraction of their data to climate scientists. If you have an Android please consider signing up and helping to grow this exciting data base.

pressureNET 2.1 is out! We've fixed a lot of bugs, added some new settings and made everything a bit faster.

Phil did a great job! Also, Lynne, I think you should moonlight as a narrator, your voice is great for it.

The cold, cold arms of Andromeda

The European Space Agency just released this new, jaw-dropping picture of the magnificent Andromeda Galaxy, as seen by the far-infrared Herschel Observatory. The familiar arms of the nearby spiral glow with the cold fire of dust at temperatures not far above absolute zero. More then just beautiful, they also tell the story of multiple episodes of galactic cannibalism on the part of this huge, gorgeous galaxy.

Personalized weather? Jacob & Phil's pressureNet is getting some good attention and that is good news: more users = better data.

The Greens did not win a second seat in parliament last night, but they came damn close to winning both a second and a third and that is good news for Canada (and the world).
