Highly recommend the 5-Star cheese pizza. First time here with a large group of IT friends. I can't really comment on overall service and ambience, since our group was so large but I'd come here again. I can say that our server "Gabby" was nice and took the time to talk to me about pizza ingredients even though she was serving 30 people. I tried 3 pizza's - here's my take on them. 5 star cheese pizza: light Alfredo sauce slight creamy, very cheesy. I loved this pizza, the cheese was slightly sharp and exploded with flavor, plus the sauce created a creamy texture that worked well with the cheese. Combine the above with a great crust and I'll be back to eat this again. Cheese pizza: Light red sauce barely noticeable. Disappointing cheese. I can't recommend this one because the cheese was overcooked and slightly burned. Supreme pizza: Olives sliced, sausage tiny, bell pepper chopped. Light red sauce barely noticeable. Cheese had a good texture. I'm not sure about this one. I felt like it was grocery store prepackaged quality ingredients. I would have liked to have added more sauce on the pizza. Crust - All pizzas: Soft medium thickness crust, moist bread. because of this the bread end can be used for dipping as a bread stick which is my personal preference for pizza bread end. Highly recommend the crust for all the pizzas that I tried.

I am probably the only person in Kansas City who isn't a diehard Minsky's fan. To be fair they had more than a few chances to satiate my palate but the more I ate their pizza, the more I came to realize how bad it was. They simply don't know how to make pizza correctly -- no matter what type of crust or toppings you like, if you don't apply them in the correct order at the correct time, the pizza isn't going to be good. To start, they put the majority of the toppings underneath the cheese. This has the result of soaking up all of the sauce and grease, which takes away a ton of flavor and makes the pizza very dry. (It also lets them be as skimpy on the toppings as they want to.) Second, the timing of applying certain toppings matters! Anyone who knows anything about cooking knows you add your bread crumb topping for the last 15 minutes of cook time on your casserole. One of my favorite toppings is ricotta, and especially ricotta on my pizza, because it is the fresh and full-fat kind. Minsky's adds it on at the beginning (and it's underneath the cheese) so by the time the pizza comes out of the oven it's like eating crumbled tofu instead of the creamy, slightly sweet flavor of good, fresh ricotta (and forget the melding of the ricotta and sauce, since most of the sauce is dried up.) If you ever watch a genuine pizza maker you will see them baking the pizza and putting the fresh ricotta on the *top* and for the last few minutes of the bake - this goes for other toppings too, like certain veggies that simply become wilted. I guess if you sell bad pizza for long enough people will start to like it, but I'd rather get Dominoes!

They tried to kill my wife! She has a severe gluten allergy and we normally go here because they make a gluten-free pizza. However, we ordered the salad and it originally came with croutons. We asked for a new salad to prevent cross contamination and they said they would bring a new one out. ALL THEY DID WAS PICK THE CROUTONS OUT.

Awesome pizza. Might be my favorite ever (besides deep dish in Chicago). They even messed up one of my pizzas, but since they already made it, they gave me the messed up one for free!

I'm not sure if my timing and luck are just terrible with this location or what, but it seems like the times when I order a pizza here (usually due to my being on the plaza or en route to my home in Westport) I always somehow run into a very long wait. I can usually chalk it up to normal reasons like the time of day or a game being on, but last night was different. I was driving home from the south part of the city and ordered my pizza at 10:25. I arrived at 10:40, and at that time only a handful of tables were occupied. Despite that fact I still sat and waited for another 25 minutes before my pizza was done, and there were other disgruntled customers also waiting. The food was still great, but the fact that the wait here is always so much longer (at least to me) is review worthy. I don't have these problems at the Southwest Blvd or River Market locations.
