We love pizza and this met our expectations! We had the cheeseburger pizza and for the appetizer we had baked pesto cream cheese with garlic bread. We enjoyed the atmosphere and were able to watch football while we enjoyed the tasty food!

I am probably the only person in Kansas City who isn't a diehard Minsky's fan. To be fair they had more than a few chances to satiate my palate but the more I ate their pizza, the more I came to realize how bad it was. They simply don't know how to make pizza correctly -- no matter what type of crust or toppings you like, if you don't apply them in the correct order at the correct time, the pizza isn't going to be good. To start, they put the majority of the toppings underneath the cheese. This has the result of soaking up all of the sauce and grease, which takes away a ton of flavor and makes the pizza very dry. (It also lets them be as skimpy on the toppings as they want to.) Second, the timing of applying certain toppings matters! Anyone who knows anything about cooking knows you add your bread crumb topping for the last 15 minutes of cook time on your casserole. One of my favorite toppings is ricotta, and especially ricotta on my pizza, because it is the fresh and full-fat kind. Minsky's adds it on at the beginning (and it's underneath the cheese) so by the time the pizza comes out of the oven it's like eating crumbled tofu instead of the creamy, slightly sweet flavor of good, fresh ricotta (and forget the melding of the ricotta and sauce, since most of the sauce is dried up.) If you ever watch a genuine pizza maker you will see them baking the pizza and putting the fresh ricotta on the *top* and for the last few minutes of the bake - this goes for other toppings too, like certain veggies that simply become wilted. I guess if you sell bad pizza for long enough people will start to like it, but I'd rather get Dominoes!

The only place I know of that has deep-dish gluten free pizza. And they totally pull it off. Great pizza here, I've been a couple of times and will continue to go whenever I have guests in town staying near that area

I'm not sure if my timing and luck are just terrible with this location or what, but it seems like the times when I order a pizza here (usually due to my being on the plaza or en route to my home in Westport) I always somehow run into a very long wait. I can usually chalk it up to normal reasons like the time of day or a game being on, but last night was different. I was driving home from the south part of the city and ordered my pizza at 10:25. I arrived at 10:40, and at that time only a handful of tables were occupied. Despite that fact I still sat and waited for another 25 minutes before my pizza was done, and there were other disgruntled customers also waiting. The food was still great, but the fact that the wait here is always so much longer (at least to me) is review worthy. I don't have these problems at the Southwest Blvd or River Market locations.

We had a wonderful dinner at Minsky's the other night on SW BLVD in Kansas City. I tried their calzone for the first time. I could build my own and had lots of ingredients to choose from. I ate the entire thing! Sooooo tasty. I'll be going back soon!!

The worst fried chicken salad I could ever imagine. The chicken was not breaded (not an issue) and then fried to death. It was like bland chicken jerky. Then there was some kind of diced tomato and bacon. I had to throw it away. Very sad sad food.
