We did it! The #DMPRoadmap collaboration between the Digital Curation Centre & +EDINADatacentre at +The University of Edinburgh and the California Digital Library's UC3 has released version v1.0.0!

This means that the DMPonline (https://dmponline.dcc.ac.uk) and DMPTool (https://dmptool.org) Data Management Planning tools are now running on the joint, open source DMPRoadmap code.

In addition to these core services, many other instances exist internationally (https://github.com/DMPRoadmap/roadmap/wiki/Local-installations-inventory). We estimate that our codebase is being used by 50k+ research users and 400+ participating institutions and funders globally!

Nothing useful was done with the 3D printing patent for 20 years but the market exploded when it expired in 2009. It goes to show that Open Knowledge is the real driver while patents inhibit growth and technological progress.

Here are the slides from my talk "Using +PostgreSQL for Bibliographic Data" given at +FOSDEM 2016 's #postgres devroom on 31/1/2016.

An investigation of how PostgreSQL and its lastest capabilities (JSONB data type, GIN indices, Full Text Search) can be used to store, index and perform queries on structured Bibliographic Data such as MARC21/MARCXML, breaking the dependence on proprietary and arcane or obsolete software products. (This is a very practical & hands-on presentation with example code which is certainly not optimal ;) ) #fosdem #fosdem2016 #postgresql
