There cannot be a quick start in bike mode as there is for running. The quick start only works because the Surge can estimate your running speed/ and distance because you set your average stride length in your profile. If you start biking before the GPS locks in, the Surge has no way to estimate your speed.
- Yep. Just a video to verify/backup another individuals claim on the fitbit community boards. That explanation makes perfect sense to me. But I doubt it will keep others from wanting it anyway. :D Mostly, the video and the post I linked it to were to redirect the original claimant to the feature requests section of the FitBit community, where their want could be most appropriately addressed. If I were to hazard a guess, they might just track HR, Heading, and Barometric Pressure/Altitude until GPS kicks in if they even implement it at all. As you have pointed out, and I agree, there will not be any reliable feedback to the device that will allow a distance nor speed calculation.
