The next wave in education is not an interactive device or distance learning. It will be a curriculum change into a truly multidisciplinary approach to education. This is the only way STEM programs can excel. I have a menial job in a restaurant but my background is in research science. I see the need for applied science even in the hospitality and culinary arts industries.

Our tendency to conflate job training and education is a mistake. If we really believe in the power of the free market and creative destruction, than by definition most jobs people get trained for are in the process of becoming obsolete.
As someone who has hired people for a long time now, Dustin McKissen doesn’t believe in so called useless degrees.

The higher education landscape will change more in the next ten years than it has in the previous one hundred and fifty. Technology has challenged traditional assumptions about learning, and the proliferation of MOOCs and vocational training programs has led to new choices for aspiring students. Education is undoubtedly becoming more global, with record numbers of students seeking to go abroad for further study. These shifts all point to one truth: students all over the world face an increasing number of choices about what, how, and where to study.
