THE CHRISTIAN RACE: nearing the end of Pauls ministry he said, “I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” He likens the Christian faith to a race in the Greek Olympic Games. But unlike worldly races the Christian race is vastly different in Olympic races only one can win the crown, in contrast all who cross the finish line in the Christian race are awarded the crown.

A crown not like the Olympic Greek crown, the wreath of olive, laurel, pine, or parsley which could be presented on only one victor and was subject to wither and decay, but an eternal crown that will be bestowed on all who endure in faith to the finish line. This is the honour and glory, the splendour and beauty of the Christian faith, in this race everyone who faithfully endures through the troubles, hardships and sorrows of this life and crosses the finish line wins the victor’s crown.

The crown of all the faithful in the Kingdom of God is a crown of righteousness, purchased by the righteousness of Christ. The faithful are fully aware that they have not yet attained this state or this crown (except by faith), but rest in the confidence it is laid up in glory awaiting them.

A HEART IN TUNE WITH GOD’S HEART: many faithful Christians filled with Christ’s Spirit and his love who consciously observe their own heart and look at where it finds one of its greatest joys will perhaps be surprised to find that it is in seeing other people going out of their way and sacrificing their own life and time to help another struggling human.

This is because God is love and the heart of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ desires those devoted to him too love their neighbour as themselves (meaning do good to others and not harm) this is the only command he gave those who follow him concerning mankind. So no devoted Christian should be surprised to find that one of the greatest joys of their heart is seeing acts of love and kindness being shown to others and if they find this is so they can rest in the confidence, Christ’s Spirit is dwelling within.

THE KING TRANSCENDS HEAD KNOWLEDGE: there are many wonderful and different spiritual experiences as the faithful in Christ grow spiritually as they journey through the ups and downs of life, but the wonder that excels them all is that moment when the love of the eternal and royal King the Son of God transcends all intellectual head knowledge and he becomes the majestic light that floods the mind and the heart with such overwhelming love that nothing else residing there can compare with it nor can anything excite like it, or from that moment onward ever replace it.

WE ARE ALL INFECTED WITH A FLAW: since all Christians (actually all mankind) descend from Adam we are all infected with a flaw. The Bible calls this flaw sin (i.e., selfishness, pride, ego, lustful thoughts, greed, anger, jealousy, and the list goes on). Because of this we all live in a fallen corrupted body of flesh and at some level have dwelling within our mortal bodies certain sinful dysfunctions and aberrations dwelling within our minds and our hearts.

All these flaws have the potential to cause condemning thoughts and guilt in the mind of the faithful, who desire to honour and please God, but those who love Him should always let these invading inward aberrations and dysfunctions, be second to who they are in Christ’s love and God’s grace.
