Budapest Day 6 - A Walk in the Park (including Heroes Square) and Opening Ceremonies - Last day of pictures - the rest of the time was at the competition itself, which I've already inflicted on here :-). I wasn't expecting the Castle in the park, especially with a bust of Bela Lagosi as part of the monuments.
Enjoy -

For the non-Facebook folks, here is a video of Marie' and her Miami Teammates Free Skate at the 2016 World Synchronized Skating Championships in Budapest. They got 9th place out of 26 teams. Team USA 1, the Haydenettes from Boston area, took the Bronze medal after an amazing Free Skate (they had the highest Free Skate score but their Short Program was not as high). Team Russia 1 got the Gold while Team Finland 2 the Silver. Really amazing skating, especially the final 5 teams.

Be careful what you wish for... This really like a reformulation of the GOP, but without the current core of the Party.

But really I wish for a penal colony. Which one will support? You have
to admit, I believe, that a Drumf would be less horrific than a Cruz.
Imagine a Cruz on the nightly news or even the radio.

Eventually the Repubs will have to suggest something (other than Keystone) and no.

Still catching up - Budapest Day 5 album - Wanderings in the Palace District, Kerepesi Cemetery (which I could have spent the whole day shooting), and misc. with Marie' and night images. One more album to prep - mostly from the park around Hero's Square. Bit of overkill, but there were so many images I thought interesting. Enjoy.

Thanks - it was an experiment to see what traveling without a dedicated camera would turn up. All these were taken with my Moto X (which made it added nice because I have it set up to autofeed photos to both G+ and Flickr). Did some clean up and framing post production, but turned out better than I expected. Would have liked a "real" camera in some places with odd lighting and darker venues, plus a nice optical zoom in places, but made wandering a lot easier without much added baggage.

Flickr albums have the labeling stuff built in, as well as a basic editor (G-Photos is better on the back end, but easier to share lots of places - FB - with Flickr - I know G is getting better, but Flickr is mindless).

Marie' will be - shudder - 20 this year...

Budapest Day 4 - Mostly this amazing place, the Museum of Applied Arts. Two more days to process, but will slow down as the actual purpose of the visit - the World Synchro Skating Championships - get underway for real today.

You certainly saw more of Budapest than we did. One minor suggestion, if you have the time, is a boat ride up the river.

For those who may not be following me on Facebook, here are the links to my pictures to Budapest, so far:

Bit of overkill, but so much more to see... TK
Today: Went to Budapest Central Market to see many goodies and eat some. Wandered back via the old Jewish section Saw many interesting buildings Went to dinner at the Blue Rose (Kek Rosza) for more traditional Hungarian stuff. Listed to a fine trumpet/organ concert at St. Michael's church

Good article on what really drives the cost of healthcare and how it needs to be controlled - it's not how you insure folks but how you set the payments to a provider.

Having been under the Japanese system, which does provide universal insurance, I know that the government sets the pricing for MOST hospital/medical procedures with pretty good outcomes. This is where the real control is but at the cost of (over?) payments to MDs, hospitals and drug companies.

The counter argument that we should set the free market loose on this is a non-starter since free markets rely on open pricing everyone can see, which hasn't existed in the US medical care industry for a long time. The article's reference to the "All-payer" pricing model would be a necessary first step towards this, but even that would be a stretch under the current political environment. So, the fallback is to a government structure - which is not politically palatable either.

Now we're stuck fighting over a broken system with wrong-headed arguments over what the fix should be. Sigh...
Should doctors' wages be cut across the board?

Which is one of the reasons I'm skeptical about a Bernie candidacy - we live in Bernie central here but I can only see the phenomenal waste of time that effort would be, though good to have him raising the issues...
