It looks like NOT having a business plan is the norm for startups. Reminds me of some advice I received from the wise Michael Rance once. :http://blogs.hbr.org/tjan/2012/05/great-businesses-dont-start-wi.html?referral=00563&cm_mmc=email-_-newsletter-_-daily_alert-_-alert_date

Personally, I think that design philosophy can be a bit contrived with too much dependence placed on it's importance, unless the personal philosophy is that it isn't that important (raises hand). Thankfully, it's a subjective consideration that can by completely different for each creative person. This is how I see it...:http://www.willsloan.com/blog/design/design-philosophy/

Yipes! I say go with the ones that are crucial to your target demographic and ignore the rest... even if that includes a giant like Facebook.:http://www.businessinsider.com/social-media-marketing-landscape-complicated-2012-5

Est. 1980 - I'm just a geek who likes to read, write, create, innovate, entertain and have fun!
Introduction
In short, I’m a creator, innovator, and procrastinator. I like to think of big ideas and then do nothing with them. Anyone interested in buying some sweet ideas? I'm also a father, husband, geek, and web/graphic designer. I love to entertain and I’m always looking for new ways to exercise my creativity.

I went nuts and rated everything Excellent. Why? Because that was my personal opinion. Sure, the building and overall interior decor is a bit lackluster compared to the more trendy coffee spots in town, but it was full of character and evoked a very earthy Portland or Seattle coffee shop vibe. Very at ease and welcoming, but best of all lacking any pretense. No signage sporting the Best Coffee or any ego driven mantra's. This place is ALL about the coffee. The beans are roasted in-house and you're hit with the most intoxicating aroma as you walk through the door. The Batista's are friendly, experienced and helpful, not visibly annoyed by my barrage of questions and willing to make sure I got what I wanted. The Cuban is just spectacular. It's a very unusual drink in that it's made with sweetened condensed milk, espresso, and steamed milk. Don't add a thing to it! Just sip and enjoy. The quality of the espresso is, in my opinion, the best in town. Not bitter at all, just a very smooth, flavorful roast that is absolutely brilliant. Can't say enough good things about this place. For me, personally, this is where it's at. LOVE it. If you're a coffee person, try it at least once. Worth it for sure.
