How you care, wear & store your #glasses and #sunglasses impacts their lifespan. We tell all of our patients that if they are not on your face, they need to be in your case. Do remember to clean your #eyewear with lens cleaner and cloths specifically designed for coated lenses. Anything else may damage your coating and reduce their lifespan. Stop by Eye Department Eye Care & Eyewear in the Goose Hollow neighborhood of Portland to learn best eyewear care practices. It is also important to remember that excessive heat or cold may impact the coatings on your lenses or the frames themselves. Like every medical product, how we use these devices is critical to their performance.

Changing Weather May Exacerbate Dry Eyes: As Fall turns to Winter and temperatures drop, humidity in the air will decrease as well. Heated indoor spaces generally have less moisture in them than other environments. This fall and winter, we may experience dry skin, chapped lips, and dry eyes due to these lower humidity conditions. This is also why cold wind may dry out your eyes. Do remember to keep yourself hydrated and increase your intake of omega-3s. You may want to drink an extra glass of water before going to sleep. You may also want to run a humidifier in your home to counteract the changing air quality. Image may contain: one or more people, eyeglasses, sunglasses and closeup
