Following the murder,Thursday, of Avijit Roy, US-based writer and a moral leader of secularist and freethought activists in Bangladesh, his elderly father Ajoy Roy commented on the “threatening” messages his son had received prior to the attacks. They came from extremists who complained his ...

+Kwesi Sam If I understand you correctly, I think that what you're saying is that different people have different opinions. I agree that an opinion is certainly 'true' for the person that holds it but not for others. For example I might think a certain food is the best and no one can dispute that's what I think!
If you are saying that faith based claims are equal to personal opinions - only true to the person that believes them - is that really the case?
Not everything is an opinion.
Faith traditions make empirical claims about the world (eg Mohammed split the moon in two, prayer can influence the future, Jesus walked on water, etc). If someone then says "their faith is true for them" (it's just their opinion) then it seems as if they're actually saying they are true for them regardless of how the world actually is. It's a way of saying "I will believe despite the evidence".

A tribute to Indonesian victims of sexual violence.

“There are 35 victims every day in Indonesia. This is crazy. Women, girls and children are living in danger and insecurity in my country. We are questioning the existence of the laws, the government, the religions, the constitution, the culture, and the educational system."

The Humanist Association of Ghana has described as “disappointing,” the attacks against the musician,  Mzbel for recently saying that she believed the story of Jesus Christ was “made up.” Mzbel’s comments has generated a lot of controversy in the country with some critics taking to social media platforms to to express their anger over the comments she ...

MzBel makes the better points "how do you know" and "I might be wrong". These are the main things to consider to remain open minded. Then the interviewer calls her stubborn whilst continually stating her non-evidential claims without considering MzBel's points.

+Graham Knight  Ok, please i dont have the perception of changing anybody from their religion or beliefs to mine. but the fact is that i believe in the bible or the scriptures (laws) so i believe in rules, instructions and therefore its evidence that there is a creator or and inventor. Cellphones even have rules governing it, like wise an egg  or glass or guns. I trust the bible and it is the source of reference and its relevant.

Everybody at a point in time in our generation grew up with stories from the bible. but you would only believe it when you get an accurate teaching which doesn't depend on human traditions or "my-opinion" rather than consulting the source. If you lived in Ghana you would understand where I'm coming from. Mzbel lives here and in Ghana false Christianity has dominated here very much after the "christian" European nations came here.

I am also christian, i have friends who are Buddhist and Muslims but all what they say truly is that they read the bible too. so even when she says shes never going to believe in Jesus i wont blame her but rather blame the one who thought her. from infancy.

The bible was made for Parents to teach their children and not for pastors to set up business for themselves.(if you have time please read Deuteronomy 6:6-7). if she was well taught she wouldn't make that statement (Luke 6:40)
