Nickel Diner is just a really good diner. It's a bit more fancy than your average diner. But if your parents are the kind of people who feel out of place at a nice restaurant, this is a place where they will feel comfortable, and you will still like the food. It's best feature is probably its desserts. I had the Nutella donut, which was great. It's a cake donut with Nutella and some crunch, probably a mashed up cereal. I didn't ask. All of the desserts looked wonderful and justify a return trip. The service was prompt and courteous.

We loved our breakfast here!! The wait was about 30 minutes on a busy Saturday morning, but they were kind enough to put our name on the list while we were still looking for parking. As we stood outside waiting, someone brought out samples of bread and homemade jam for us to munch on--yum! We started our meal trying two of their famous doughnuts--the maple bacon glazed and the strawberry crumble. Both amazing. The ham, leek and fontina scramble--completely fantastic and a huge portion. I didn't even come close to finishing it. The only real tip I have is park in a lot, not at a meter. You'll wind up paying more at a meter. There are $5 lots in the area.

This place is a great spot to start the day. There is a long line, so come early or call ahead to put your name on the list to shave off some minutes because the diner isn't very big. The plate sizes are hearty and not overpriced. The nickel bag is amazing and if you're eating breakfast, highly recommend as a side starch. Service is fast, and everything looks good when you look around. Parking nearby this area is weird as there are multiple lots on the same block, some of the parking lots have different pricings for the same parking lots, they just charge you depending on the entrance that you come in through?!

I had the quick 3 and my wife had the vegan rancheros, we also split an a la carte pancake. Food was awesome! Great place for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Short walk from the Omni hotel. Totally worth it.

Came here for a quick breakfast before my meeting. Wouldn't seat us until our third party arrived. I could understand if the restaurant was crowded, but there was only a few tables going. I had some eggs and potatoes. The eggs were decent but the potatoes were dry and bland. A friend had the breakfast burrito and said it was good. Waitress wasn't very attentive.

Yum!! After seeing Nickel Diner on Diners. Drive-Ins and Dives AGES ago, it's always been on my list to try, I just never got around to trying it until now! We came on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30pm and there was still a 10-15 minute wait, which was fine with us. FOOD: - duck & cluck - mashed potatoes, sauteed greens, duck & bacon sausage and two DEEP FRIED poached eggs!! Those eggs were DELICIOUS and really made me wonder how they made them. Very filling and the owner said it was the best thing on their menu (but I'm sure she says that about everything :P) - 5th & main - spicy bbq pork hash with two poached eggs on top. A TON of pork! Super delicious, not that spicy at all and perfectly poached eggs. Again, very filling. - homemade apple pop tart - they were sold out of donuts, and the pop tart was recommended to us by the owner and damn, I'm glad we listened. The filling was super good, not full of that syrupy goo that can be found in apple pies. We ate it with their homemade strawberry jam - double yum! SERVICE: Friendly and quick! A good number of staff on hand, our food came out pretty darn quickly. It was nice to speak with the owner and see that she's around the diner :) VENUE/PARKING: Smallish, with booths, tables, and share-able high tops. We declined to sit at the high top tables and we snagged a nice cozy corner booth! Bathrooms are single stall per gender and clean. Parking was a bit more of a problem, we couldn't find any free meters, so we just parked in one of the lots nearby. Would definitely come back! Just not at peak times :)

Came with my husband here for his 30th birthday dinner with high expectations, however, left extremely disappointed with the service at Nickel Diner was a bit terrifying. Perhaps, it was the nasty attitude our waitress had. This was my last visit to this place!!
