As of September 1st, 2018, Rempel Insurance Brokers Ltd. has been acquired by Shawn Graydon, a long-term leader within the company and industry.

“It is important to us to have the brokerage continue into the future. Rempel Insurance’s clients and employees will benefit greatly from Shawn’s expertise and commitment to the ongoing success of a local insurance brokerage,” expressed Lynn Rempel, former President and CEO. Lynn stated, “Dale would think this is awesome! He would be very proud of all our employees’ accomplishments and so pleased to see where the company is today,” she added.

Lynn Rempel led the company for 6 years after her late husband, business partner and former CEO, Dale Rempel passed in the fall of 2012. She has been with the company for 28 years, and is excited about moving forward in a business advisory role.

Shawn has been with the company for 18 years and in 2016 was the first recipient of the Broker of the Year award in Canada, for which there were over 1400 nominations across Canada. Shawn’s commitment to our clients and our employees made this purchase the company’s ideal succession.

Your child’s safety is a priority. Using a child car seat correctly means you’re taking one of the best steps to protect your child in a crash.

Knowing which car seat to use at each stage of your child’s development can be confusing. The most important thing to remember is to not rush your child from one car seat stage to the next. Children should remain in their current car seat stage, whether it’s a rear-facing, forward-facing or booster seat, until they reach its weight or height limit. This information can be found in the car seat manual or on the car seat itself.

1 in 3 Deaths on MB Roads involves a Distracted Driver.

One of the most dangerous distractions is using a hand-operated electronic device, such as a cellphone, while driving. In Manitoba, it’s against the law to use these devices for any reason behind the wheel. This includes texting, checking notifications, talking, etc.

Effective Nov. 1st, if you’re caught, you’ll receive a 3-day licence suspension for a first offence and a 7-day suspension for subsequent offences. Upon conviction, you will also receive a $672 fine and 5 demerits. A $50 licence reinstatement fee will be collected by MPI on behalf of government.

Protect Your Home – Preventing Ice Dams

Ice dams are caused when melted snow re-freezes after uneven heat loss from your home. This causes the roof to warm above freezing temperature, allowing snow to melt and then re-freeze before it reaches the roof’s edge. If this cycle repeats consistently, an ice dam forms and water collects behind it. Ice dams can cause expensive water damage. Click below for prevention tips.
