The DC Circuit's long-awaited open Internet ruling is out, and it vacates the FCC's anti-blocking and anti-discrimination net neutrality provisions. Appears likely to re-ignite the open Internet debate in DC.

My take on the FTC-Google settlement: The winner is free speech on the Internet. In the New York Times today.

We'll be talking about this one for a while: Chua/Rubenfeld on the factors that drive some groups to succeed.
Culture pushes some groups to achieve. We can learn from them.

MIT just released my colleague Hal Abelson’s report on its role in the Aaron Swartz case. The report debunks a lot of mythology and finds no wrongdoing: MIT never sought a prosecution, and was neutral throughout. But by staying neutral, MIT also missed a chance for leadership on the important issues raised by the case.
The university said it made mistakes but engaged in no wrongdoing regarding Mr. Swartz, who committed suicide while facing trial on hacking charges.

Congratulations to Susan Molinari, new head of public policy for Google in the Americas. Her experience and energy will be a terrific addition to Google's Washington office, and the entire DC Internet community.
