Warm up your home this winter with an indoor garden!

Take the edge off the winter chill by tending to an indoor garden http://bit.ly/1xoojes
Living in a cold climate where days get short and dark, and winter seems to drag on forever, can be disheartening. Why not take the edge off the chill by tending to an indoor garden? You can move in some outdoor potted plants that wouldn’t make it through winter otherwise, and add some new ones for a cheerful bounty of greenery that can carry you through to spring. Having more houseplants in winter when it’s battened down with the heater running ...

I have contacted the rep several times about an issue with Thermafoil delaminating. The issue was acknowledged but nothing was done to fix my kitchen cabinets. It's hugely disappointing.
Response from the owner - a week ago

Horrible. Drawers crooked, stain unfinished. Overall poor quality . Chinese cabinets are better quality than this garbage. On top of that, sent the package with a missing door due to damaged door. $2500 for four boxes? Absolutely would not recommend this trash to my worst enemy. I'll attach pic too.

These guys are doing a lot to minimize their environmental footprint while offering what looks to be a superior product. I haven't purchased cabinets from them, but I would consider it because of their environmental practices alone.
Response from the owner - 7 months ago
Thanks Janna!

We purchased our custom kitchen cabinets in 2014. We chose hickory. Love the wood and they are beautiful now that it's FINALLY finished. The lady that came an measured our kitchen, completely messed up her measurements, but she said we either moved our ceiling or something else was wrong and she refused to admit SHE made the mistake in the measurements. Due to the 3 inch mistake she made, I had to settle for a smaller cabinet with no drawer. Also, when she put in the order, they delivered 1 inch pieces that were supposed to be 4 inch crown molding pieces. That was reordered and delivered 3 times incorrectly. We finally said forget it, my husband went and bought 4 inch crown molding and stained it, cut it and installed it himself. We got tired of the whole ordeal. Kathy was a nightmare at best to work with. We paid for 4 inch crown molding and never got it. The show room at Canyon Creek is nothing less that amazing. But, I would never recommend them to anyone. We paid $10,000.00 CASH for our cabinets, not on credit. We saved for a long time for that. I'm sure that's not a lot of money to some people, but it was a lot for us. It was a colossal disappointment. Hard to believe you people did the Street of Dreams houses. Ours was a total nightmare.

Please bear with me as I tell you our story. Back in 2006 we built a custom home using Canyon Creek cabinets throughout. We chose beech wood in various color finishes due to its hardness rating. The overall finish and wood grain is nothing less than stunning. Perfect balance of color, antiquing, and wood grain. In essence you could literally take a door or cabinet from one location and place it in another without even noticing. I give them 5 stars for those cabinets. Fast forward to today - We are building our "last" home and based on past experience AND samples we ordered, we decided to go with Canyon Creek beech wood cabinets again. Ugh, what a difference 10 years makes. The cabinets that arrived were NOTHING like the quality looks we got in our first house. Huge variation in wood grain and color uniformity. I will look for a way to post photos so you can see for yourself. Not only is there huge variation in wood grain, but in several locations, adjacent cabinet doors that have similar wood grain structure were not matched or aligned with each other. As an example, a lower panel with a heavy wood grain on the left side has an upper cabinet with the heavy wood grain on the right side. Any fabricator in their right mind would have at least aligned the wood grain on adjacent doors. It made me think whom ever built the cabinets was working in a high school woodshop on their first project. When your builder, cabinet installer, and friends all notice how "variable" the wood grain is, there is definitely something awry. I think you get the picture. Meantime we were so unhappy with the master bath cabinets that we ordered completely new ones in a black tone finish so we would not have to take the risk of more wood grain disappointment. Although they gave us a "good" discount, we still ended up having to pay an inordinate amount of money to replace them. Feels very unfair for a company who's quality policy states "At Canyon Creek, we believe quality is an essential element in our cabinetry construction, finishes and enhancements." Canyon creek eventually sent a representative to see the cabinets so we took him to our current home built in 2006 and then to our new home so he could see the difference. His comments were "seems like a notable difference, I'll have to check into it" and "the quality of available wood is just not as good as 10 years ago". He offered that they may be willing to replace some of the doors under warranty but was definitely noncommittal. Just the other day we were told that they would NOT warranty the cabinet doors we wanted to replace because they were "within variation tolerance". I would think spending $50K on cabinets would get you some quality service but in our case I guess not. Bottom Line: The quality of hardware components such as rails and closures is excellent. However we are extremely disappointed in the quality and layout of the cabinet doors due to, in our opinion, poor wood grain management. The difference between our 2006 home and our home being constructed now could not be more evident. Had we known there would be such a disparity in appearance, we would not have chosen Canyon Creek cabinets. So buyer beware - If you are particular about how your cabinetry wood grain looks, I strongly suggest you find a different supplier. Canyon Creek does not appear to stand behind their quality policy.
