Quiet time...

I know I'm a bit late today, but today's theme for #joinindaily with +Johnny Wills is a photo you are proud of... This was one of those beautiful, breezy, warmish, evenings a cpl weeks ago, and the sun off the lake, with Spanish Peaks in the background, was just awesome. Was also the first time I got to show this area to my son. This is Lake Beckwith, about 5 miles down the mountain, from our home.

Taken with my phone. November 2017.

Country drive...

Took my son out to show him around our home. Was a beautiful day for a drive. No one was out.

Today's theme for #joinindaily with +Johnny Wills is mist/fog. I took this up at Lake Isabel which is about 5 miles from my home.

Taken with my phone. November 2017.

Solace...

My quiet place, where I take the dogs to run and play. To connect with our Mother. To breath...

This is a mile back behind our home. Driving up there, we always see at least 10-12 deer. It's perfect... +Deb Smith a small piece of peace for you 😊💙🤙

Hey y'all.. Just wanted to take a moment to say hi, touch base. Life took a rough turn for us this past month and a half. Lot of heartache and grief and plus my physical shit.. So I kinda ducked into hiding over on Facebook, got involved with a pit bull rescue organization, and began fostering dogs. I needed to do something positive, to focus, to be of service, to get outta my head.. So I totally bailed on g+ and photos and taking care of myself, pretty much haha. But I wanted to say hi, touch base, and see that the fam is doing well.. Happy Holidays 💙🤙

And now there are six...

Our newest addition, Lydia. She came to us from a rescue organization that deals with dogs, primarily pit bulls. But this sweet lady ended up there and was having no luck getting adopted, so they asked me if I could take her, as the kennel life was really freaking her out. She's around 4 and just as loving as can be. My other cats aren't too thrilled, but they'll adapt. It's been about a 3 weeks now, and they're settling into the idea...

I thought she'd be a perfect intro on #caturday 😻💙 ... Here, she's sitting by their two scratch pads next to my bed, enjoying the morning sunshine streaming thru my window...

The road home...

Today's theme for +Johnny Wills#joinindaily is beautiful roads/lanes... This is the road leading into our small town. I took this with my phone, thru the driver's side window, as I was rounding the curve coming, very slowly, into town... I piss everyone off because I drive so slowly, as I'm always watching for the wildlife. Plus, the scenery always blows my mind. 😊

This is what I have to look at through my kit hen window as I cook and clean...

Last Monday we had a great snow storm. It brought a family of 7 various aged female deer to our yard. So I took some tired carrots, blueberries, cherries, and apples out to them. The head doe chased the younger ones off, haha. So they came over to this apple tree and were grazing...

I was lucky I was just boiling some food at this point, as I was enamored with the scene playing out through my windows, and taking pictures...

This is for you +María Gilbert 😊💙🤙

We have chosen to focus on my life since my rescue. We have chosen not to look back. We don't often talk about my life before rescue. We have no hatred, only indifference, for the people who abused, neglected, and exploited me and my yard mates. Both my family, and Handsome Dan's Rescue, has made the deliberate choice to stay silent.

Today, one of those people was honored by Virginia Tech. As a family, as a rescue, we have only indifference. However, I would like to share this photo. This is a photo of HDR foster mom Delores, one of Mama and my dearest friends, holding a photo of Little Red and a candle honoring her memory on the campus of Virginia Tech this evening.

Soon, HDR foster dad Mark will speak to a group gathered there, of his experiences with dogfighting survivors, his feelings on this night as a graduate of Virginia Tech, and about some real heroes and survivors worthy of being honored.

We are proud of the decisions we have made. We hold no hatred. We focus on the future, We hold dear my success and the success of my yard mates who showed the world that with a little forward thinking and understanding, a group of game dogs from some rural Virginia woods could forever change the climate for other survivors from similar heinous situations.

I humbly invite you to enjoy this photo for what it is. The honoring and memory of the life of a Little Red dog. I invite you to share in our indifference toward those responsible for my past, and that of Little Red and the others rescued from my yard, and go forth to do something for the homeless animals in your community, or those rescued from dogfighting.

We find within our moral character the resolve to look only forward, to hold no hatred, to be inspired by the success of the Vicktory Dogs and those who have come since. — with Heather Gutshall, Delores Dean Morgano, Melissa Baroni Fiaccone, Paul Fiaccone, Susan Weidel and Mark Morgano at Virginia Tech.
