Just when you thought you had heard everything there is to hear about Atlantis something like this pops up. It is definitely worth watching.

My only problem is with the timing. As far as I know, before the Younger Dryas the Sahara was a desert not too different (although possibly worse) than what we have now. The YD changes this, turning the area green, and there it will stay from 9,000 to 3,000 BC when it starts to desiccate again.

If the Richat is Atlantis then the Younger Dryas didn't destroy it. It allowed it to come into being. Whatever ended the Green Sahara is what destroyed it. The idea that the Sahara turned from green to desert rapidly is news to me, but it does make sense for what may have been going on in Egypt. The pyramids of Giza are some of the earliest constructs of ancient Egypt. The pyramids that follow it only get smaller.

If the Sahara were to sudden turn from grasslands to desert there probably would have been a flood of refugees pouring into Memphis to seek assistance from the government. It could be that to keep these people out of trouble the Pharoah set up the building of the pyramids as a sort of public works project, not too different from what FDR did back in the 1930's. The ancient equivalent of hiring someone to dig a hole and hiring someone else to fill it back in, but with a greater end result.

Nothing new here (aside from the host constantly getting the name Mazes & Monster wrong) but it's still neat to see.

The narrators attempts at comedy and desire to shame everything that moves makes me want to punch him in the face, but otherwise - this a pretty good guide to low budget 70's sci-fi. I don't even like disco, but it's pretty neat how well the disco tracks go well with the visual. Now if only that guy would shut up!

In truth, I really do wish I could stay up late and waste time watching this.
