So now they want to modernize the very weapons that we're supposed to be negotiating to reduce!

In the early decades of the Cold War, NATO made arrangements to bury what were known as atomic demolition munitions (in essence, nuclear mines) at…

Though I'm encouraged by the sponsorship being a Republican and a Democrat, I doubt they can get this act through Congress, with all of the national security lobbying.

... the Surveillance State Repeal Act, a bill which would not only end the mass surveillance laws currently on the books (the PATRIOT Act and the FISA Amendments Act ), but also prevent the federal government from forcing tech companies to build NSA-exploitable flaws into smartphones, tablets, WiFi routers, and other devices.

... they will not only have to deal with reluctant colleagues in both chambers, but a U.S. intelligence community and federal law enforcement leadership that is even now still seeking to weaken basic internet security standards in the name of “national security”. One of the most important public battles over the issue of security versus surveillance is about to begin.

Yep, the Kookocracy is alive and well in the State of Arizona!

47th in the ranking of States for Education!  http://goo.gl/PzfZjp

... at least $104 million in cuts to universities, elimination of all state support for the largest community college districts, and, despite a claim of increasing K-12 funding, a serious reduction there because the promises aren't in real dollars. Including inflation, the actual spending on K-12 will be a 13.5 percent reduction from 2005-2006.

By the same report the state of California ranks 42nd and last I checked it swings well left.  According to other reports... "Nearly a third of Arizona's public schools received an 'A' letter grade this year [2014], which is 16 percent more than last year, in part because of improvements among the state's lowest performing students and those learning English..." Could that be why residence voted the way they did? Can the name calling stop so some dialog can begin?

While the vast majority of Americans consider themselves unprejudiced, many of us unintentionally make snap judgments about people based on what we see—whether it’s race, age, gender, religion, sexuality, or disability. This may be a significant reason many people in the U.S. report they feel discriminated against. Subconscious prejudice—called “implicit bias”—has profound implications for how we view and interact with others who are different from us. It can hinder a person’s ability to find a job, secure a loan, rent an apartment, or get a fair trial, perpetuating disparities in American society. The Love Has No Labels campaign challenges us to open our eyes to our bias and prejudice and work to stop it in ourselves, our friends, our families, and our colleagues. Rethink your bias at lovehasnolabels.com.

The name of 17th-century violin maker Antonio Stradivari - or Stradivarius as he is usually known - is one that sends shivers down the spine of music lovers the world over. During his lifetime Stradivari made over 1,000 instruments, about 650 of which still survive. Their sound is legendary and for any violinist the opportunity to play one is a great privilege.

Clemency Burton-Hill indulges in her lifelong passion for the instrument as she explores the mysterious life and lasting influence of Stradivari - through four special violins on display at this summer's Stradivarius exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. She is joined by 2002 Young Musician of the Year winner Jennifer Pike to put some of the violins in the exhibition through their paces.

When I point my old Subaru south, the familiar butterflies take wing. I drive toward the tracks, the coal-fired power plant, and the state prison, where I will meet the writing workshops. About the time I merge onto th...

The state ... plans to stop funding community colleges in Pima, Pinal, and Maricopa counties. Universities will be hit by a $104 million cut in fiscal year 2016.

I'm dumbfounded and speechless (well almost).  The State's Education reputation is already at the bottom.  Why?  Why are these Republicans set to defund education in the State of Arizona. There must be accountability for this action!
