This enchanting chateau seems straight out of a fairy-tale and, when the new owners bought it, the house had been virtually abandoned for 15 years and the gardens for twice as long. Although the foundations of the big house date from the 12th century, the whole ensemble is late 17th century, with the exception of the main facade which was redone later. It has a very attractive homogeneity. The size of the estate had been vastly reduced from several hundred hectares to just a few but one could still vaguely imagine how it would have looked in its heyday.

The new owners of this house bought it mainly because of its garden and we chose to recreate the atmosphere of a Romantic English Garden. Traditional elements such as wisteria-covered pergola, rose garden, canal, dining pavilion, fountains and herbaceous underplanting all link the garden together.

The rounded softer shape of the hedges, imposing specimen tree and beautifully mown lawn are other components which intensify the serene tone of this urbane haven.
