I was sitting in a lecture this morning when the Prof mentioned in passing that food agency guidelines generally recommend ~260g fish (2 portions) per week to maintain a healthy diet. Without getting into a debate about the rights and wrongs of going vegetarian/vegan, I did wonder if this was truely accurate. After all, fish is only available to a large subsection of the population because we have developed the technology to store and transport fish from sea to plate.
It also reminded me of this TED talk I saw a few years back. Barton Seaver is a chef. He suggests eating fish is an occassion, something to be celebrated and not something to be taken for granted. He sings the same song that Michael Pollan does..."Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.". He also listened to his mum when she said "eat your vegetables". #sustainableseafood #tedtalk #marineconservation
