Carl Stymiest, co-author of "Loggieville...on the Miramichi"; [with James A. Fraser]; published (Miramichi Press) 1964; second reprint,1965. Carl married Alvia Helen Branch of Bathurst, NB on Aug 3, 1968 and moved to Vancouver, B.C. Alvia was the daughter of Velma and Allison Branch of Bathurst, NB. Carl and Alvia were divorced in 1980. In 1981, Carl legally adopted twin brothers who were 19 years of age at the time of adoption but have known Carl & Alvia since 1974.
Carl graduated from Teacher's College, Fredericton, NB in 1965 and taught for two years in NB. He then moved to Toronto, Ontario teaching only one year before finally settling in British Columbia. After teaching for 30 years he entered into a business partnership with Ken A. Lincoln in July of 1986; "The Windsor Knot Clothing Co. Inc."
During his varied teaching career, Carl managed to author no less than 14 published titles, many of which are used today in the schools of British Columbia. He has also been published by the "National Library of Poetry", and "The International Society of Poetry" in the USA in two Poetry Anthologies entitled: "Sands of Time" (1997), and "The Sounds of Silence (1998). In 1997, 1998 and 2000, he was awarded the Editor's Choice Award for "Excellence in Poetry." He was appointed a Distinguished Member in "The International Society of Poets" in 1997. Further publications may be found in Anthologies released 1999-2000, specifically: "Tides of Memory" (Spring 2000), "America At The Millennium: Best Poems and Poets of the 20th Century" (Spring 1999), "The Consuming Flame" (June 2000), "Colors of The Past" (July 2000), "Shades of Gray" (July 2000), "From The Mountaintop" (August 2000), "Time After Time" (October 2000), "Visions" by Karl Joseph (A Contemporary Poet Series, published byInternational Society of Poetry, October 2000) and "Awakening To Sunshine" (Fall 2000). In 1999, Carl was published in two National Canadian poetry anthologies; "A Cherished Moment" and "Beneath The Winter Sky." He is currently working on his own anthology of poetry to be published soon, as well as the latest revision edition of a history of the Stymiest Family- "Down By The Old Mill Stream- A Stymiest Chronicle" first published in 2001. Carl attributes his fifty+ year interest in genealogy to his father, Carlyle (Bud) William Stymiest; his uncle, Donald G. Stymiest, and their cousin, Eldon J. Stymiest.
