franny’s—located in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Park Slope—is a Southern Italian and pizza institution that wrote the book on what is now ubiquitously understood to be a “Brooklyn-style” restaurant. Since franny’s fired up its ovens in April of 2004, owners Andrew Feinberg and Francine Stephens—who also own Bklyn Larder and Marco’s—have been dually committed to creating an environmentally responsible business and the best tasting food in the borough.

I ordered a pizza over the phone for pick up and was told that it would be ready in 25 minutes and came to the restaurant at that time. I told the hostess that I was there to pick up my pizza and she let me know that it wasn't ready. She did not offer me a seat or a drink of water. After waiting for 30 minutes, I asked the hostess if she could check on the pizza or if she knew how much longer it would be. She said that the cooks would let her know when it was ready and there was nothing else she could do. She still did not offer me a seat or water. I waited for another 30 minutes (1 hour total). The hostess then came over to tell me that the cooks forgot about the pizza and they were going to make me a new one. She did not apologize in any way or recognize that I had been waiting and asked her to check on the pizza. I then told her that I had been waiting for an hour. She said something about it being out of her control and then said "Did you want a glass of wine or something?" She then gave me the pizza 15 minutes later without a word or apology. The pizza was fine, but quite expensive when I consider the terrible service.

A 20 dollar Margherita to go, not even cut is just unreasonable. Barboncino is better, served in a nicer atmosphere and it is 8 dollars cheaper.

This place is a bit pricey but the pizza has a lot of flavor in it. It's a loud environment, so not the best place to have a private meeting, however, it's a great place for a friday get-away.

We've eaten at Franny's many times of the years, and just got back tonight. The food is always excellent, but it's something of a scam price wise. My wife and I had a total of six slices of pizza, a few beans (shared with another couple), a few pieces of greens and roasted tomato, with toasted bread, one piece of bread and two glasses of just okay wine. Our bill came to $92 with tax and tip. I'm sorry, but that's just ridiculous. Yes, you pay for quality. But if we've learned anything in these times, rustic food with quality ingredients doesn't have to be preciously priced as it is here. Perhaps Marco's will bring this enterprise back to some kind of reality check.

Hands down, the best pizza in Brooklyn. Make sure you head here super early if you're attending at event at the Barclays Center, as there's usually a wait. Get the clam pizza...leave happy.

Great food, but absurdly overpriced small portions. I got a $14 kale salad that was about six bites. Not planning to go back.

Franny's hasn't shared anything with you.

People are more likely to share with you if you add them to your circles.
