What up G+?

It's been fun, but I haven't been spending a lot of time here.  To no small degree this is due to me trying to extract myself from the Google containment system :)

If you're still looking for me I plan to be active on TSU, you can find me here:

It's not perfect, but it's more transparent from all these other user farms.  Someday I'll build something better, but for now at least these guys seem more transparent than the big boys.

Just thought I'd share this (since I seem to post most when I'm breaking things :)

My trusty i2 Prusa has been printing so long now that I actually wore out the plywood groove mount. I noticed some weird stuff on my prints and then watched it a bit and notice the hot-end "wiggling", even though the bolts are all tight.

I'm not sure how many hours are on it, but I've had it for about three years, and it's worked at least half that time... :)

Just posted an Instructable on how to print your 23andme results in four steps (and if you think it's cool, feel free to vote for it; I'd love to have a better printer to hack on :) - http://www.instructables.com/id/3D-Print-a-sculpture-from-your-DNA/

My printer's been working well for awhile now so I feel like it's time to break it by trying to make it print better ;)

I've noticed that I've got some artifacts that look a lot like the "ringing" described in the post linked below.  I'd like to spend some time tuning the machine to see if I can eliminate this stuff but I'm wondering if there's a more current guide like this and in particular, one that covers the i2 Prusa Mendel and Marlin firmware.

Any recommendations?
