You can always find unusual and healthy options at rainbow. They also have a parking garage! The veggies and fruits here are super fresh and delicious. There is no meat or seafood sold here. You can buy everything in bulk, which helps with reducing packaging waste. Love this place, but it's too far to go here regularly!

This grocery store is amazing! It's easy to make fun of it but it really is a wonderful part of the community. The bulk section is legendary. And so much kimchi and miso!

This place is amazing. Freshest strawberries I've ever tasted, great range of everything. I wish there was a Rainbow Grocer back home in Australia!

This is a wonderful gem in the city for food lovers and for health freaks!!! Amazing choices of teas, spices, organic produce. One of very few places where you can buy raw milk, raw butter which is so good!!! I took away 1 star because the place is too crowded with stuff.. It's hard to get around with your cart! The staff is not very friendly. You have to watch your receipt. I have had some crazy charges added on there quite a few times!

Great source for bulk grains and pastas. I go here when I'm looking for something special, like quinoa pasta or raw milk. Otherwise, the prices and general lack of things that are bad for you keep this from being my main grocery store. I do however, LOVE the monthly Stumptown Coffee Tastings at the Cafe.

Great selection of bulk items - especially herbs, spices and teas. Supplies for those looking to "go green". Wide selection of cheeses. No flesh is sold (meat, fish, chicken) and prices slightly higher on standard products. Watch out for the rude and oblivious customers who leave carts everywhere and stand in the way while they chat. Beware the guy with mustache at front desk who is selectively rude to certain customers.

I yearn for the day I can do all my shopping at Rainbow, but it's expensive and they don't sell meat or fish so it won't be happening anytime soon. You do get what you pay for here, though, and that means quality. Some highlights are a massive and impressive selection of cheeses (and samples to boot), the best bulk spices this side of the bay bridge, dairy products galore, fermented things if you're into that, and bulk nuts, seeds, and beans of all kinds. This is a vegetarian's/vegan's paradise. • • •

Great SF co-op offering local and organic grocery at reasonable prices. The staff is helpful and informative about the items they offer. No meat here, so buy your meat grocery elsewhere. Tea aficionados will appreciate the extensive bulk tea section. Bring your own container for the 5-cent container credit.
