Shinto

Back in Tokyo from a really deep travel into one of the most spiritual parts of Japan during this Oshougatsu season. I was really impressed by the sumptuousness of Ise Jingu, so important that they just call it "jingu" , THE Shrine,
But, to say the truth, one of the most beautiful experiences of this trip was the shinto cerimony in the middle of the mountains of the Kii peninsula. Almost no one was around apart from the priests dressed up with cerimonial clothing and a couple of bystanders. It really felt authentic and special.

Winter

... is closing by. Definitely something 10 years ago I wasn`t used to is waking up in the morning and see the number 1 on the termometer. But that`s good news! It means I can go out and shoot snowscapes! (and hopefully not freeze in the process 😂😂)

This also means that there`s little time left to reserve a spot for the winter workshop I`ll be leading with Andy Yee Aperture Tours and Anna Volpi next February:

Check it out!
ps: no language problem.. Japanese, English, Italian, Spanish.. we`ve got you covered (even Sardinian... 😂 )

Knock knock

This last week finally autumn knocked on the doors of Tokyo. Even though I like to go around Japan looking for colored leaves, it doesn`t mean that I underestimate my neighbourhood.
This one is from yesterday morning, around 7 in the morning. It`s good to be able to go on a location with the bicycle and one little camera only, for a change :)

Not really related to photography, but if you want to hear me talking jibberish in Italian, I was on the news yesterday.
No, I didn`t kill anyone. 😂

Japanese Notebooks

An interview to my friend Igor Tuveri about his latest book.
It`s in Italian, unfortunately. And I say unfortunately because listening to his elegant words talking about the Japan that comes to life on his pages is something that it`s a shame to miss.

On the good side you can hear my name and not understand when he complains about my obsession with waking up too early to take pictures 😂

Orvieto

A little glimpse of italian autumn today. Last time I`ve been in Europe for this season was a couple of years ago. Japan autumn is so beautiful that I find it really difficult to move when leaves are turning in the land of the rising sun. :)

Side note: 3 days left for the exhibition. I`ll be at the +Island Gallery today and Sunday, if you have time to stop by.

日曜日までやってます!
今日(金曜日)一日中在郎。
日曜日も、ワークショップ以外の時間ギャラリーに居ます。
時間があれば是非お越しください!

Kansai hunt

It`s been already more than a month since I started my usual hunt for fall colors. I usually put more effort in the northen part of Japan and try to stay away from the Kyoto area, not because is not beautiful enough, but I don`t really care too much about hordes of tourists :)
This time I decided to go towards the Kansai and explore the area around lake Biwa and.. well.. WOW!
I`ve been lucky enough to get the timing just right and in three days I filled my sd cards with some amazing colors and locations.
Autumn here in Japan is definitely my favourite season.

A quick reminder about the exhibition going on till this Sunday at Island Gallery. I`ll be there most of Friday and Sunday, in case you wanna have a chat or punch me in the face 😅

Disegnatore

Here is Igort. Great artist and awesome person. That`s how I imagine him working on his drawings. Putting down million of little signs on the paper, dressed in yukata and listening to japanese music from the Meiji era surrounded by all the things that will come to life on his pages in any moment.

News

Looks like I am in the italian newspaper today! Well.. the article is not about me but about my great artist friend Igort and his new work, but I`m very happy to have had a part in it.
I had a look at the first pages of the book and being there in drawings driving the car towards the japanese natural wonders it`s definitely amazing!

漫画姿の私見ると機材そんなに重く感じないな~。現実もそんなに楽だったらいいね!🤣
とにかく、ちょっとしか見てないけど、綺麗すぎて感動した。流石Igort!
