It is precisely because Thunderf00t is open to an exchange of view that I subscribe to his channel. I, like most people, don't agree with anyone else 100% of the time, but I find the discussions of those differences to be enlightening in various ways. One way being that the other person may point out inconsistent areas in my arguments and perhaps change my mind. All I ask in return is you listen to my arguments in return and evaluate them equally. And at the end of the day, if you feel I am full of shit, shake my hand say you disagree with me and it was nice having the conversation. At the very least, it will motivate me to revisit my arguments and evaluate them to see if I may be in error. And I feel even if you cannot change my mind, you have made me a better person by introducing objective criticism of my arguments, so next time I discuss this topic I am better able to support my point of view.
When you get so dug in on you opinion, that you feel the need to turn off criticisms, you have lost the argument. And you have effectively turned off the person you are trying to convince. They will give you equal consideration of your idea...none. And eventually people will ignore your ideas and you in the future because you have nothing new to bring to the conversation.
