The food here was phenomenal, but the service was highly disappointing. Although they were able to accommodate the one dietary restriction at our table, they were unwilling to allow the rest of the table to order the chef's selection because it had to be ordered by the whole table. We asked if they could make an exception because one of us had a special diet and they wouldn't even check with the chef or try to do so, meaning one person's meal had to dictate everyone else's. Additionally, not once while we were eating did anyone ask how our food was. Not until we were finished did our server return to ask if we wanted dessert (which was fantastic as well). Our server was very cold and unfriendly, the host, however, was pleasant. So, for food I'd give 4 if not 5 stars, but service brought it way down. Also, do be sure to make reservations.

First of all, the food and wines were a truly great experience: amazing tastes, smells, and textures. The music and the atmosphere in general was awesome, way beyond my expectations, too (perhaps because they played a lot of my favorites :)! I can highly recommend their legendary tartar of beef, it's simply amazing. Now to the iffy part. We had a booking from 9PM which felt a bit late given that the official closing time is 10PM (but the web booking allowed even 9:30). Ultimately, we were around well after closing which itself was no issue - in fact I quite liked the place getting gradually empty and changing from a buzzing food-heaven to a more chilled hangout. Overall, the service was decent, but it felt somewhat rushed as if the staff was (unknowingly) showing that they had a long they and were focused too much on getting over with it. The great food complemented by the atmosphere (as well as the staff's recognition of their small mistake of forgetting about our last dish) did compensate for it, though. At the same time, because I liked the place so much at first, I hoped for a spotless experience and this has sadly not been one - although pretty close.

Manfred’s was the best meal that we had during our stay in Copenhagen. We opted to have the tasting menu of 7 different dishes each of which was brought over by the chef who cooked it and explained (in perfect English!). I think my favourite was a delicious minced carrot and goats cheese dish – so tasty and like nothing I had eaten before. We also opted for the 3 different wines which went with the meal and again were all explained by the lovely waitress. The restaurant is small and cosy and gave us the sense of ‘hygge’ which we heard a lot about during our stay! The food was excellent quality and I think very reasonably priced for such a delicious meal.

Fabulous. On a quiet street with a beautful layout, cosy but functional looking (in a good way) I was offered the option of a table, sitting at the chef's kitchen bar or the main bar the last of which I took up. Again, they had wi-fi and no problem with me working from my laptop at the bar. Manfred's is known for it's fine selection of wines and although no expert myself the hugely knowledgable and friendly young woman serving me was able to go through options and guide me. I plumped for the Sommeliers Choice which is 3 glasses, all of which came with a brief and informative description from my host. I also took her recommendation for food and had a delicious Onion and Cheese combination as starter (I'm not selling it well - it was sublime) followed by a robust peppered Steak Tartare. A joy.

Great place to go if you want Danish food with a twist. They use Danish ingredients and create new and exciting dishes. We had a menu called "The Chef decides" or something similar. That simply means that you get seven surprise courses — all were delicious. Just leave back and enjoy!

Thoroughly mediocre. We were excited and hungry when we arrived, but the experience really disappointed. Amongst the negative things we had the waiter forgetting us on for wine and serving several glasses of wine at the same time, one wine then being full of sediment, another one almost flavorless, and all the courses (7 in total) being utterly bland. It's rare that you leave food on the plate when you're still hungry. On the plus side one dill dressing had a nice taste and the bread crust was good.

Great chefs selection and organic wines, highly recommended for a long lunch. Not many tables, but attentive an knowledgeable staff.

Warning: if you come to Manfreds any time after 12pm and fail to order the tartare, it will soon become one of your major life regrets. I don't care if you're a vegetarian or can't handle red meat. Just DO it, okay? Also, Manfreds has unfortunately stopped with their weekend brunch hours. Trust me, this news has had a more tragic impact on my life than yours, but apparently you can still get their "eggs benedict" after 12pm on the weekends. Not quite the same, am pretty disappointed, but have fortunately acquired a couple backup brunch spots that do the trick in times of need (when you wake up starving and hungover and need to eat RIGHTNOW at 10am, for example). ANYWAY, like I said, I've been here at least once a month every month for the past year. Every time, apart from my beloved tartare which should remain unchanged for the rest of time, the menu is totally different. Every time I feel as though I have been reborn to new flavors and aromas that I hadn't had before. Every time, I hate their espresso. Fortunately for Manfreds, Coffee Collective is down the street. Their espresso is, incidentally, also a pure blend from Coffee Collective, and 100% fair trade, and 100% organic (don't you just feel like a proud tree-hugging dirty hippy knowing that?), but it's bitter as hell, and I get this "unfiltered organic" thing (which is delightful in the wines they pair with their Chef Special) but bitter coffee is not my jam. Since I don't need a coffee with my evening meal, and since there are more than adequate back up options on the same block in the event I should ever feel like one, Manfreds gets to keep all their stars. You're welcome. :)
