This is a RESCUE pet shop. The higher priced animals help to fund the rest. Yes some of them come from puppy mill overflow- the puppies that aren't sold to commercial stores and were dumped at shelters or into ditches. Some of you reviewing this are disgustingly ignorant. You are more offended by the shop owners philosophy than anything. What the hell is wrong with you people trying to stop this? Four of my animals came from Tom and his Dad's shop. The Cats were all rescues that were dumped and had no where else to go. Yes I paid an adoption fee for them. I paid $400 for the Lhasa puppy I got there 10 years ago. I paid $10 for the old corgie I got there 13 years ago. I paid $35 adoption fee for the kitten and $10 for the old cat I got there. At the Medina County shelter I pay $40 per adoption fee - currently two of my dogs are from Medina County. Now that said - puppies and kittens can command higher fees that underwrite the continuation of the adult animal support. Do those prices sound high? Well let me tell you that the 'breed rescue' organization ALL charge a fee in excess of $100 for every animal you adopt and for puppies it goes up to 1k - An acquaintance of mine just adopted a King Charles Spaniel Puppy from a breed rescue up in Avon Lake last week. Not only did she have to give them massive quantities of personal information and credit check - she had to pay them over $600 in adoption fees. I don't question their motives. I know how the shelters get funded from the fees and the fostering is underwritten. SO why are people questioning Tom's motivation at the Pick of the Litter? Because he's making adoption easier for people who want a dog but can't afford to pay the vet bills when you rescue from the county (I can and I do when I adopt a great dog) or can't afford the fee from the other shelter groups? OR simply get rejected by the shelter groups because their credit rating wasn't good enough. That latter seriously enrages me. Good animals good people - credit checks should not be involved.

Every week we drop off a large pile of dry cleaning and shirts to be laundered. Every week we pickup perfectly pressed and cleaned pants, jackets, and shirts. We've been doing this for nearly a decade with never a problem. Diane K. Kovacs
