Just when I thought Digg was down for the count they come out with the best Google Reader replacement yet. I can't wait to see the desktop version.

New Alkaline Trio video for "I Wanna Be A Warhol" - gotta love their consistency over the past 15 years. It's nice to get some solid fun music instead of the serious indie folk-rock we've been inundated with.

+David Metcalfe I always read the reviews over at absolutepunk.net and then look up the albums on spotify. So far this year has been pretty weak - minus the new "Twenty One Pilots" album is great and "This Old Ghost" is pretty good.

Big shake up with Google today, mozcast just tracked it's biggest ranking changes to date… it hit 113º - this is bigger than any Penguin or Panda update yet. Be safe kids! http://mozcast.com/

Typography is to web designers as low-light photography is to photographers. The technology sucks. I'm always happy when I see steps to fight terrible web typography.

Every day, before I go to work, I stop in at 9th Ave Café for my caffeine fix. It's almost like taking a step back in time when customer service was genuinely friendly. Roger (we're on a first name basis at this point) takes pride in his coffee shop and it shows through dedication and craft. It's not about getting through the day for him, it's about delivering a product that customers will love. This means my drink of choice is always excellent, unlike a lot of the chains in the area. Whenever I am in a hurry and don't have time to pack a lunch I always stop in for the Chicken Torino with a side of greek salad. I always eat-in because it's a comfortable place to enjoy my lunch, I never feel rushed which allows me to read the paper without constant distractions around me.

This is one of those places that you walk or ride by all the time but forget about when you need a good place to go. But not tonight, I remembered and I enjoyed everything about it. The decor and atmosphere reminds me of a few restaurants my parents used to take me to while growing up in a Frank Ney era Nanaimo. It almost feels like home. I've read the reviews about the food, and I didn't have the same experience at all. I ordered a shrimp and pineapple thin crust pizza and it was delicious. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her chicken sandwich and was extremely satisfied with the portion of salad on the side. This was my second time here, and there will definitely be a third.

I see a lot of complaints about the receptionists but I didn't get that vibe at all. I had to show up first thing in the morning and the lady who took my information was friendly and helpful. She took me to see my Doctor, Aileen, without having to wait at all. She diagnosed the problem, gave me my prescription, and sent me off with a friendly "have a good day". Based on this first interaction this is the best clinic I've been to in Vancouver so far. I'll definitely be going back. I understand that most of us write our reviews when we have had a bad experience, but it's important to write when we have had good ones as well.

Professional Headshots. While I'm not a model or an actor, I still needed to hire a photographer for my professional profiles and portfolios. Wanting something different than the usual backdrop settings, I went with Taseda Knight. He did an amazing job of finding a unique location and the photos turned out perfect. If you need someone who really prides themselves on their work hire Taseda Knight.

I'm a huge fan of New Balance shoes and have bought them for the past ten years. My experience with Brandon (who I was told was the manager) has ruined my perception of the brand. I was shocked with his rude and abrasive attitude. I'm switching brands for running shoes now since he doesn't care about his customers.

Hands down the best pub in the downtown core. Whenever a client or friend wants to go for a drink, this is the go-to place to show off good taste. Every aspect of this place is enjoyable, from the amazing interior design to the great service. If you know Irishmen you know how particular they are about their pubs – all of my friends that are from Ireland love this place. Where I used to hear complaints about how terrible pubs are in Vancouver, Mahony & Sons has filled that void.
