The National Snowmobile Tour will be hosted in 2013 by Traverse City, MI. I'm not much into Snocross. Probably because I've not really watched it in person. What interests me about this event is the #freestyle  portion of it. +X Games athletes will be there showing off their #stunts  . Here's a blurb from the article about it: "In an extra thrill for fans of high-performance snowmobiles, Traverse City will also be one of only two stops on the eight-city series to feature a first-ever “freestyle jam session” in which the machines and their drivers are pushed to their limits in a series of jumps, flips and other stunts."

Well, there's not really any snow to speak of here in the state of Utah. We got dumped on in late October so I was getting excited for a good long season. So far it has been a disappointing start to winter. I just read this article on snowgoer's blog, but it offered little consolation: http://www.snowgoer.com/top-stories/5-reasons-why-early-snowfall-could-be-gasp-overrated/

It would have been interesting to watch this guy get that snowmobile on there. Nevermind the car. Don't scratch the sled!

#hillclimbing   is probably the most exhilarating thing you can do on a snowmobile. The problem is that all too often an otherwise fun hill climb can turn disastrous. Just ask this fellow: http://youtu.be/gU22mv9kqV0

New technology always has a wow factor to it. When ski-doo came out with the REV platform for their sleds, that was a big WOW for me. I think all of us can think of a time when they saw some new advancement for the first time. I just ran into this company. Aside from snowmobiling, I'm also big into hiking, camping and general outdoor recreation. If you share these same interests, I think you'll find this new technology as cool as I think it is.

If you want a nice carefree snowmobiling getaway, Daniel's Summit Lodge in Heber City Utah is the place. Daniels has rustic cabin style lodges to stay overnight. They rent trail riding 2 person machines as well as mountain climbing powder machines. Daniels is surrounded by hundreds of miles of groomed trails. Their snow cat circles the main trail ready to help a stuck or stranded snowmobiler. They also rent all of the warm gear you'll need for your ride. Daniel's Summit is world renoun for their guided snowmobile tours: http://www.danielssummit.com/snowmobiling/

I know this isn't snowmobile related, but I always enjoy an adventure. I ran into this video and had to share it. I'm planning to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail 2 summers from now. This video is from South America, but it gives me further motivation to get ready for my thru-hike. This earth is full of some pretty beautiful places.  http://vimeo.com/53673455
