This shipwreck makes a brief re-appearance on Pletts main beach once every 30 years or so we have been told. This year June 2015 after rough weather removed many tons of sand from the beach causing the level of the beach to drop about 2 meters this long hidden ship wreck showed itself very briefly.  By the time we got to it, it had already started to disappear again beneath a new tides sand. Fascinating.

We had quite a wild weekend weather wise, with huge rain on Saturday evening and heavy clouds on Sunday, creating wild seas and heavy rivers. Hundreds and thousands of white mussels have washed up on Solar beach today ... a result of the weather?

EXCITING RESTORATION PROJECT! Local and National Government have decided to repair the Rail Road between George and Knysna. The main focus will be freight, but the old Outeniqua Choo Choo will be the crowning jewel in this restoration proj...ect!
One of the most popular day tours along the Garden Route was a trip on the Outeniqua Choo Choo, a historical train pulled by a steam engine. The ride goes through breath-taking landscape with stunning views of fern-covered mountain tops, wide river plains with crystal-clear water, swamps, lagoons, endless sand beaches and the deep-blue sea.
Work will start early in 2015 - Donald Grant (Minister of Transport, Western Cape)
