Do you constantly deal with comfort issues in your home? Do you have cold spots in the winter and hot spots in the summer? Have you ever wondered if balancing your system will have positive a improvement on your comfort?

When your system was manufactured, it was designed to provide a certain amount of heating or cooling capacity to your home. Over time an improper installation, age, cleanliness and run time, reduces your systems capacity, causing your home to be uncomfortable and increasing your utility bills. Let Stan's HVAC Services diagnose your system for performance.

I was asked to come out and look at replacing this split (heat and A/C) system for a non-profit organization. This unit, along with a second unit, serves the whole first floor. To the best of my knowledge, I "suspect" the first floor would need an A/C system in the 3-4 TON range and a Heater with an output of about 50,000 BTUs to meet their comfort needs. The two systems previously mentioned (together) total 10 TONS of cooling and 240,000 BTUs of heating. I am making an educated guess on the size but I believe this to be more then twice the amount required for their heating and cooling needs. Is it any wonder why the utility bill was high and the system never really functioned correctly?

More often than not, I find improperly sized and incorrectly installed heat and cooling equipment. Most people do not understand the inefficiencies that are created when you oversize your equipment. Your contractor is not doing you any favors by oversizing your system. I recently visited a customer in Philadelphia who was interested in getting air-conditioning for their home. I quickly glanced at their boiler system and to my surprise saw that it was Three (3) times the size, their home needed. I tested my guestimate against my computer program and found myself to be correct. Is it any surprise that they pay, on average, $600.00 month just in heating bills. Remember the old adage, "You get what you pay for!"

Chinese Proverb:
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
