Leaking battery lead to a leaking air conditioning line. Battery acid does not love anything. It really doesn't love aluminum!

Some of our customers have late model Nissan cars and have been having problems with a sudden loss of power in hot weather, usually after extended high speed driving or when going up long grades. What's happening is the transmission is overheating and the computer that controls it is putting the engine in to a low power mode to protect the transmission. There's a fix and we can take care if it in a jiffy by installing a transmission cooler from Nissan, not some cobby aftermarket patch.

Here's what it looks like installed, before and after the bumper cover is re-installed.

Holy Hannah it's hot! Like you didn't know already. 116 today and something like 120 tomorrow. Unsurprisingly, we're doing a ton of AC repair. This is a picture of a condenser we pulled out of a customers' car. Over the years a bunch of crud has built up on it, keeping it from doing an effective job of cooling the air. Replaced it and now the customer needs a sweater!

Here's something that I think we're all interested in: The increasing complexity of the cars on offer new, the cost of repairs to those vehicles as they age and the relative merits of buying a more easily repaired somewhat older car.

I own an auto repair shop and all my personal vehicles fall within what I consider to be a "sweet spot" of late 1990's to 2010. Here's a link to an article that lays it out so well.

Check this out! A customer comes in to us with a P0128 code on his truck, Coolant Temperature Below Regulating Threshold. Common enough and after doing the regular checks we decide to replace his thermostat. When we open it up, we find a NAIL stuck in to the thermostat, holding it open! Where did that come from?!

"Car Air Conditioner Doesn't Work" OK, it's time (past time!) to get started on air conditioning repair again. I have a number of things that I've written already on my blog in this regard. (Of course I do! It's Phoenix! We don't do at all well without AC here!) I'll link to a few of these over time, but here's the first one.

A question I get all the time: What's the difference between synthetic and conventional motor oils and why is one thought to be better than the other. This gentleman explains it better than I ever could. He has a lot of automotive engineering type videos well worth watching.

Ford has a recall on some of their F-150 trucks that affects some of our customers. Here's a link to an article from CBS news you may want to read.

Here's a good article from Bankrate.com about the true cost of maintenance or the failure to perform maintenance on your vehicle. It's a long read but worthwhile. This is why we make the recommendations we do.

So your #airconditioning   isn't blowing the air like it used to huh? Could be just a plugged cabin filter! This one came out of a truck that belongs to an agricultural chemicals company and it was particularly bad. If you wonder about your AC, come on by. Let's check it out!
