Hey Vancouverites! Do you have an inkling on how you might be spending your Friday night this week (and for the next few weeks)? Let me give you a clue: the Stratus Exhibit at the Ayden Gallery features art from local indie cartoonists and it opens this Friday! Comic folks represent!

The programming schedule for VanCAF 2013 is live! Look at all the fun things we're going to be doing. Fun things over there, fun things over here. So much fun!

Ignore those pesky TBA's for now. They are but a sign of something still great to come.

VanCAF is all about new names and new faces, but we love it when we can announce a guest who has earned our respect and admiration from years of hard work and talent. Marv Newland is one of those guests, so be sure to visit his table at VanCAF 2013!

And while we're feeling all warm and fuzzy about VanCAF, remember that we're a non-profit event! Check out our fundraising page to learn how you can support us.

The VIP packages are going to be new this year, and will feature a mini artbook (with art contributed by our many guests and exhibitors), a print of the VanCAF promotional art by Steve LeCouilliard, a VanCAF shopping tote, three prize raffle tickets, two refreshment vouchers, and reserved VIP seating at all events in the performance centre!

VIP packages are $15 each, and there are only 100 in total, so get yours while you can!

If any of you have been dipping your toes in the growing waters of open education, then you may already be familiar with this class on gender identity in comic books. If not, then we're happy we can be the one to introduce you. Classes include live interviews with pros like Brian K Vaughan and start April 2nd! (And best of all, open education is free!)
Full course description. Gender Through Comics: A Super MOOC is a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) coming Spring 2013 that examines how comic books can be used to explore questions of gender identity...

And secondly we've invited back Joey Comeau and Emily Horne from A Softer World! They're coming all the way from Toronto so be gentle (and buy their things. Torontonians like it when you buy their things).
