Coriolanus Leonidas: Saw this after seeing your comments on a blog I used to visit: "Ascending Mount Carmel." What is your view of Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus? (such as Feeneyite etc?)

Coriolanus Leonidas: Seeing your description, especially the part "reactionary, regal, and Russian" I find that describes my situation quite well (except I am not Russian but Romanian). I've been raised Orthodox but for a long time I've been struggling with the idea that Roman Catholicism is true (only the present situation in the Catholic Church is despairing--especially the end of the Tridentine Mass). At the same time I am a firm monarchist and look in horror at the modern world.

I see no reason not to subscribe to the teaching of Pius XII against Feenyism.
However, the fact that God qua God is not bound by the sacraments gives no excuse to those who tempt God by presuming He'd act in extraordinary ways.

I share your concern for the denigration of tradition in the Church today. The Barque of St. Peter is indeed in dire straights.
That, of course, is no reason to jump ship, or to try to survive the storm by grasping at floating debris.

I pray to God that you'll be graced with becoming Catholic.
