Here are a few exercises from a bootcamp-style workout I did at High Park this past Sunday. The exercises included: weighted sled bear crawls, weight sled pulls, kettlebell swings, kettlebell Turkish get-ups, explosive push-ups, strength band punching drill, strength band arm pump drill and rowing, lateral shuffles, battling rope hip tosses, and battling rope overhand waves. If you enjoy these kinds of workouts or are interested in them, I suggest you consider joining one of my upcoming boot camps in Toronto or Etobicoke.

Leg Extension and Flexion Exercises for Quadriceps and Hamstrings

I like to do leg extension and flexion isolation exercises at the end of my leg/glute workouts. Here are 8 ways to perform them on a bench and with a stability ball. With bands you stress the end of the range of motion. BANA (bilateral assisted negative accentuated), a term coined by Dr. Joel Seedman @dr.joelseedman_ahp , focused on over-stressing the muscle fibers during the eccentric part of the movement. You can handle more weight lowering the weight as the muscle is lengthening. More so than the shortening cycle. Using bands and BANA technique are both great ways to build a lot of strength and power and break through plateaus.
In the videos, I am using the Ironmaster bench with leg attachment.

Fall Etobicoke Men’s and Women’s Boot Camp. NEW DATES (due to Thanksgiving weekend).

I am conducting a women’s and men’s boot camp starting weekends October 13th and 14th at Long Branch Park (245 Lake Promenade). Women will start at 9:30a and Men at 11a. This will be 8 sessions and running 4 weeks. It is $200+HST to sign up. Pre-Registration is required and the closing date is October 6th.
I want to let people I know (including: friends, current/former clients, and associates) get first dibs on signing up (since I have a 10 participant limit). This boot camp is geared toward fat loss and muscle building/”toning”. We will be doing a lot of bodyweight exercises but so much more. I use kettlebells, battling ropes, weight sled, resistance bands/strength bands, dip bars, medicine balls, and more.

Boot camps will be an upper/lower body split focus. There will be 10-12 exercises each session performed circuit-style. :45 of effort followed by :30 rest. The structure will be: 10min walk-through, 5min warm-up, 45min training, and 10min stretching.
