CHANGE CLOCKS - FALL BACK

HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS!

It's turkey time. Enjoy that extra dose of tryptophan when you take that 2nd helping of this delicious bird at dinner.

Tryptophan is found within several foods, one of them being turkey. It is an amino acid which allows our bodies to synthesize niacin, serotonin and melatonin.

Low levels of tryptophan have been linked to anxiety, depression and insomnia. Soon students will be heading back to school. Unfortunately, many of today’s pupils are sleep-deprived. Lack of sleep leads to poor academic performance and increased sick days. Ensure that your children are getting the necessary hours of slumber to function optimally. Please refer to the “Healthy Sleep Duration” guidelines provided by our colleagues at the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The number of sleep hours recommended varies with each age group.

Community Sleep Coach is celebrating its 5th year!

Five years ago, we realized our vision of creating a sleep care service available to everyone across Canada. With sleep disorders on the rise, we are striving to raise awareness of this common affliction. We offer sleep education, counselling and sleep assessments to anyone who feels they are not sleeping well.

30-40% of today's society is sleep-deprived which poses a risk to everyone within the community. Mental & physical illness, motor vehicle accidents and work-related accidents & deaths are all possible outcomes of poor sleep.

We are working hard to have this type of sleep care recognized as a component of an essential service within our healthcare system. Addressing abnormal sleep patterns before other medical conditions arise, is a form of preventative care. Help us spread the word!
