We already have The Highline. One day we could have The #Lowline (an underground park). #GoogleCityExperts

The Lincoln Memorial is a must see when visiting DC. Its grand and can take your breath away. It's a massive structure. Even during the government shutdown, the memorial was still impressive and it was dark without lights.

We visited the Edgar Allan Poe house at the request of our 15 year old. The house turned out to be a great little museum. There was a short movie in the beginning, an informative timeline of Poe's career, and we were free to roam the house. The best was the creepy basement. Use your imagination. This house is free to enter and the rangers are very knowledgeable and friendly.

Visiting the Statue of Liberty at least once is a must! Bring all your tourist friends and family here because it is New York. I have been a few times in my life and have never went up to the crown. They are letting people go up there again but you have to reserve months in advance. I also just finally went to Ellis Island for the first time. Usually I bypass it to save time. Well worth a visit. Tickets for the ferry is a short line but waiting to get on the boat could take hours. Dress warm because it is cold. Go as early as possible.

I love Governors Island and the fact that New Yorkers get to visit it for free every Summer. The ferry ride is quick and lots of fun. There is plenty of room for bikes and strollers, just get there early. There are always different events happening every week, so check the calendar. They just opened up the new slide area and have a working farm now. Bring a ziploc bag because they give away their herbs.

Welcome to The Rock! Alcatraz is great fun and really touristy but something you need to see at least once. It's filled with history and is a little eerie. The audio tour is very informative and there is one point where they say touch the bars of the jail cell. Don't do it. Think of all the germs!

I've always wanted to see the falls so I hopped on a cheap bus tour from Chinatown. The falls were very impressive. Massive and you will definitely feel the water. We went on the Maid of the Mist and watched a little movie about the legend of the falls. We also got to hike to see the falls up close.

Most people only know Castle Clinton as the place where you buy tickets for Statue of Liberty and boat rides. The castle is really an old fort that was built to keep the British out. I would love to check out the little museum. I've only visited the castle because of the Statue of Liberty.
