Operation Moonshot

“We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…”
–President John F. Kennedy, “Address at Rice University on the Nation's Space Effort,”, Houston, TX, September 12, 1962

Idle conversations can be dangerous things. A couple weeks ago we had a conversation on AustinENL’s Slack team that went something like this:
“Have you ever noticed that Congress Avenue would make a great spine? We should field downtown.”
“We did that thing along Sixth Street last year, 37 layers I think. That’s a pretty great spine, too. We could layer downtown in two directions!”
“We could center it at Sixth and Congress, and layer downtown in FOUR directions!”
“Heck, why stop downtown?”

Lines were drawn. Keys were farmed. Intel was crashed multiple times. Operation #Moonshot  was born.

It took us about 275 ADAs and thousands of XMPs, but we managed to open up the lanes. The links started coming in just after 9am*, soon followed by many, many fields. We never had all 156 fields (39 layers in 4 directions) up at once, but we had around 130-140 standing at one point, and rethrows added up to a total of something like 200 thrown for well over 30 million mu.

Some portions of the fields lasted for the next three hours, until our Blanco team had to deal with a flat tire and we decided to let things die with the next ADAing of the central portal. We left for some well-earned barbecue and nap time.

Congratulations for the six onyx illuminator, three platinum illuminator, and one silver mind controller badges received by our anchor teams: Brian Arneson, Charles Hueter, David Geisberg, Erinn Hughes, Hannah Buse, Jessica White, Kathryn Hutchison, Mark Harrill, and special emergency flat-tire rescuer Trey Cooksey!

Of course an operation like this requires many agents, and I hope I catch everyone to thank you all. I apologize if I’ve missed anyone!

* Nope, we didn’t quite make checkpoint. That would’ve been nice, but it wasn’t the point. We’ll win the septicycle for AM03-GOLF-02 and AM03-GOLF-13 with fields that are slightly less insane.

I recently moved to Austin and have been trying to keep up a long distance relationship with my hair guy in Houston, but it wasn't working out. I had one cut in Austin and it was okay so I decided to try another place. Bella Salon was the only place with a high rating that had an opening on my day off so I took my chances with Samantha and I LOVE her. Rob at the front desk is so nice and helpful and the salon is GORGEOUS but really, it comes down to the cut and it's exactly what I wanted. I'm going back next week for color.... I can't wait to try their other services which are all reasonably priced imo.

Super fast service. They're friendly even when I'm not (because I haven't had my caffeine yet). Tasty cookies and muffins. I also love their HUGE large size for when I'm extra grumpy.

Dr. Donkersgoed helped me out in a pinch! I broke a tooth and he was able to see me the same day for an extraction. I am so grateful that he was willing to stay late to take care of my emergency. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to find someone willing to take a new patient on without an initial exam. Although I do have dental insurance it doesn't cover same day procedures. (What the heck?! But that's not Dr. Donkersgoed's fault). I found the cash price to be extremely reasonable. All of the staff were very kind and the office is nice and clean. I recently moved to Austin and now and ecstatic to have found a dentist I love on the very first try!

Butch and his team did an amazing job on my car. Butch even went to bat for me personally when the dealership tried to hold onto some of my insurance money. He fixed things the dealership had missed and keep me updated throughout the whole process. I feel secure knowing that I'm working with a man of integrity. I will definitely refer all my friends and family to Imperial.

This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. I took my car after an accident to have the mechanical work done. I thought everything was fine until I took the car to a body shop since BMW of Austin doesn't do body work. The body shop said BMW of Austin missed some mechanical work and were also holding onto some funds from All State and that BMW of Austin would not return their phone calls. I had to make several phone calls and get an All State manager involved in order to get those funds returned. The service advisor said "I didn't talk to the shop" and "maybe the additional damage was done after we did our work". The service manager responded with "sorry you're having problems" and "I don't know what happened, maybe it's the accounting departments fault". A second email from the manager resulted in "the accounting department has no record of any discrepancy" I find that difficult to believe after what I was told by both All State and the body shop. At no point in time did the dealership take ownership of the problem on any level. They gave me zero reassurance that this was a fluke and that the process to resolve these issues will be examined. Worst of all, they lacked the decency to give a sincere apology for at the very least delaying my repairs for a week.
