I wonder if she gave any consideration to the idea that maybe the realization of some of these facts helped lead to the Emancipation Proclamation or further advances, or to the idea that the only way to end -isms of all sorts is to stop playing those cards, get them out of people's minds by not talking about them anymore?
The Declaration of Independence came under attack from an unlikely quarter—a state legislator.

This author makes some pretty good points as to why the Democratic frontrunner should not be trusted.

None of them seem to care about the nation anymore, just in maintaining power in or to keep on pushing whatever agenda they want to.

Apparently not content to allow the States to sort out social issues on their own, the Obama adminstration decides to threaten any public school district that does not meet their interpretation of social justice by the loss of their Title IX funds if they do not comply. It's obviously more important that no student suffer the slightest degree of emotional discomfort than it is for them to get a good education. This is yet more reason to get government as far away from education as possible, via privatization or homeschooling or whatever.
The Obama administration's directive Friday that every public school provide transgender access -- or face the loss of federal funds -- drew swift and strong condemnation from conservatives, with one public official blasting it as presidential blackmail.

If this isn't an argument for homeschooling, I don't know what is.
More people are pushing for medical marijuana; more schools are near pot shops.

Dinner with a Perfect Stranger: An Invitation Worth Considering

Bought this a couple of weeks ago from my church bookstore. I quite enjoyed it. It's a great introduction to the basics of Christianity and apologetics, set in novel form. And it only takes a bit over an hour to read.

I find it nothing short of amazing just how crazy this election cycle has become.
Supporters of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders clashed in Las Vegas on Saturday and it got so out of hand, cops descended on the ballroom and threatened arrests. Convention attendee and YouTube user Anie H. posted several photos of the action, as announcements were made over the loud speaker to leave the Paris Hotel or …

I find it sad that people are finding it acceptable that all of the candidates, regardless of party, are acting like sleepy kindergartners and people are accepting it!

Should babies be murdered because of their race, their sex, or the fact they have a disability like down syndrome? Indiana doesn't think so, but Planned Parenthood disagrees. If you agree with Indiana, please sign this petition from the ACLJ.
Planned Parenthood wants babies with disabilities to die. It’s that simple. It’s that disgusting. And it should be illegal. One state passed a commonsense...

Count me in. I have no intention of sending my wife to a store that allows such idiocy. Nor would she want to go to such a store.
Target has every right to determine its corporate policies. But I also have a right to buy my Cocoa Puffs at a place that respects common sense.

I am not sure why people didn't think that this hasn't been going on for years. Really? Do people think that Transgenders in the bathrooms is new? (p.s. did I ever tell you that I love to debate?)

If you know anyone that might fall for this sort of thing, you might want to pass this on to them.
It's tax season, which also means it's tax scam season. People around the country are getting phone calls from criminals pretending to be tax collectors. Here is one of them.

I work within walking distance of this place, and this is always where we go to wish someone well when they decide to move on from our group. They have an excellent selection of styles on tap: stouts, IPAs, a Belgian (a personal favorite), a lager of course. I'm almost certainly forgetting some too. The atmosphere and staff are friendly, and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. They have some minor food items available, but also almost always have a food truck (which changes daily) available. Don't pass this place up if you're nearby, you won't be disappointed.

Courses don't have enough motion obstacles (windmills, etc.) to be interesting, and they're all fairly similar. Prices are reasonable.

My wife, son, and I stopped by here for breakfast on Labor Day morning. My wife and I split a ham & cheese skillet (ham, cheese, potatoes, eggs and pancakes) and my son had french toast with bacon. After breakfast, we got a "Cinnamonster" cinnamon roll. Naturally, we had coffee to drink. They brought the skillet to us already split, which was nice. All of the food was phenomenal. The skillet was great, the pancakes were fluffy and tasty, the bacon was perfectly cooked, and the coffee was good. The "Cinnamonster" was fantastic: hot, fresh, light and fluffy and very tasty. The frosting was hot and gooey and tasted great. All in all, it was a great experience and I'd highly recommend the place to anyone.

Decent selection of standard American breakfast food, with some Mexican-style options, like green chile on your breakfast burrito or juevos rancheros.

Awesome food. I went here with a group from church and everything I tried was amazingly good: the steak, the tater tots, the corn on the cob, the onion rings, the fried chicken, the green beans. The reports from the other people in the group were similar. I'd happily return any time. The only problem I had was that the salt came out of the shakers at something approximating warp speed.

My wife and I had high tea here in celebration of our anniversary. As someone who lived in England for seven and half years and has visited tea shops good enough for the British royalty to visit when they're in town, I know what a great high tea is like. The Brown Palace gets remarkably close, with the exception of two things: The first cup of tea was colder than it should have been. It was fine after one of the servers came over and topped up the hot water, though. The second thing is that the scones were slightly over done, making the bottoms crunchier than they should have been. And, darn it, a scone is supposed to be ROUND, not triangular! I can't recall ever seeing a triangular scone in all my years in England. But that's just a pet peeve. :-) I'd certainly recommend the Brown Palace to anyone looking for a good high tea.

Went here for evening tea on date night. The selection of teas is very good, and they have some specialty drinks as well. Due to the late hour, my wife and I both got specialty herbal drinks (unfortunately, I no longer remember the drink names, but one was orangey, one was chocolaty). The were both very good. I look forward to trying this place again.
