Managers want their employees to impress their clients, go above and beyond. So what are managers doing to empower and impress your employees?  Starts from the top, and with company culture. http://venturebeat.com/2013/02/17/zappos-culture-coach-how-squishy-stuff-like-culture-took-us-to-a-billion-dollars-in-revenue/

How to break up a street brawl... de-escalate

So Downtown Nashville on New Year's Eve was JAM PACKED. Vannah and I were having a hard time moving and navigating through the crowd. We eventually got to a portion of the area where there was a 5 person street brawl, with the rest of the crowd forming the traditional on looker circle.

I love fights. I trained martial arts, self defense, blah blah all that good stuff.

This was a dangerous situation because the aggression was careless. a few on lookers were hit, and there were children around.

A few guys tried to break it up physically only to create a brawl with friends of the two guys fighting. I convinced the people i was near to close the circle, and have some big guys just stand in the middle peacefully.

Wouldn't you know once the pressure of on looking was dissolved and the space was taken away, the violence stopped almost instantly, and the rest of the 100's of thousands of people who were unaware filled in the area, and all was forgotten, fighting impossible.

The trick is not to engage the angry and emotional... just de-escalate the entire environment and situation... no cops needed

I’m not a big fan of New Years Resolutions. They often set us up for failure right from the start, but there’s a way around it.

Cheers, Raul!

I'm thinking of staying out here (although moving closer to a train station), so who knows? :)

I can't say enough about Carlos's approach when it comes to capturing the ideal head shot. His expertise behind the camera is great, but what really sets Carlos apart is his connection with people and how he quickly gets to know how to evoke an array of expressions from his clients. This lets him get to the heart of producing an excellent head shot in a way that's efficient, thoughtful and actually quite meaningful.
Quality Excellent

Helping businesses make the world a better place.
Introduction
I am the Director of Finance at BC Diabetes in Vancouver, Canada. We aim to empower people who have a diabetic condition to take control of their health, improve the outcomes of diabetics in British Columbia, and connect people with cutting edge clinical research to help our own community and diabetics worldwide.

This position pushes my professional skills to the limit while giving me the opportunity to be part of delivering something very special to my community.

In addition, as a consultant, I'm very passionate about helping organizations be sustainable.  At Yupana, my goal is to use my competencies as a Certified Management Accountant, communicator and active networker to help startups, existing businesses and non-profits develop reinforced business models that help them last.

What this means is that I want to make sure that clients, specifically those contributing to environmental and social good, are able to last and do the good work that they do regardless of funding, economic situations, leadership changes and other radical shifts.

It's my dream to be able to help these kinds of organizations exist in the market and to be able to do this as a strategic partner is an amazing reward.

I'm on the board of Georgia Strait Alliance, an organization committed to the well-being of the Salish Sea in southwestern British Columbia (and northwestern Washington State). I wear my finance and accounting hat with them, but they teach me something new with every engagement.
