I just joined the mass of people uninstalling the LinkedIn Android app. Just look at the most recent "reviews" here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.linkedin.android&hl=en
Why uninstall? Permissions!
Android lets you let your apps auto-update themselves. Which is nice (one less thing to do). What's also nice is that it disables auto-update on apps for which the new release has different "permissions". Permissions are things like "Use internet connection", "Make changes to files on disk", "View GPS location" etc.
Being the paranoid type, when a normally auto-updated app appears in my list of apps needing a manual update I make a point of checking what permissions have changed and I'm glad I did this time. What LinkedIn have done in the most recent release is ask for access to the "system log". I'm not exactly sure what's in there but I don't like the sounds of it.
That's why I've un-installed LinkedIn!
