#MandatorySentencing  laws have some people serving #LifeSentences  for non-violent drug crimes. Do you think sentencing reforms are necessary for crimes like this?
With the prison population continuing to grow, many people are calling for sentencing reform. Here are 3 people serving life for non-violent drug charges.

The #FifthAmendment gives you the right to remain silent. If you're unsure whether or not to say something, don't be afraid to exercise this right! #law

Your hunch about #crime sniffing canines has been confirmed. A report was recently released stating the relative inconsistency of Fido's "findings".
A recent study found that drug sniffing dogs may be unreliable and a waste of taxpayer dollars. Find out more information on these police dogs here.

Just a friendly reminder.
The smartest thing to do if questioned by police for a crime you are wrongfully accused of is to remain silent until you have spoken with an attorney.

Does mandatory drug testing violate the Fourth Amendment? According to a Federal judge, it falls under the legal definition of a "search." What do you think?
The ruling is the latest in a string to strike down over-broad policies requiring drug tests in Florida and elsewhere.

In the original context of the amendment, I would say no.. as you know, It was made because of all the searches and seizures the British soldiers were performing to a man's home and property.. If drug testing is a violation, then so is credit checks, and references..

#Eyewitness #testimony is less reliable than it is given credit for
Our evidentiary system presumes the reliability of eyewitness testimony, and jurors tend to over-credit eyewitnesses, so how do you compensate for or avoid faulty testimony?

Sad as it is, it turns out that there are in fact #racial  biases present in our #legalsystem
Setting the prison sentence for a criminal is the same for each person, regardless of race. Or is it? Find out if judges have a racial bias when sentencing.
