In 1972, when black women were likely as not to be maids; Marc Breed showcased an Afro-centric aesthetic. This attempt at a paradyme-shift, was viewed as pornographic, at that time. Galleries snubbed an artist, who later went on to alter America's feminine ideal.

I became Marc Breed in 1997, just as the police were once again sniffing at me. He, an artist of low-repute. So that I fitted his shoes comfortably.
