Today I have the privilege to give a bit of a history lesson to a 2nd year chemistry class at UofC. It is extra special as my eldest is taking the class (hopefully not too embarrassed!). I am lecturing on the history of analytical chemistry and how the analysis of contaminants helped develop the technology to what we know today. From Tswett to Golay and from Lovelock to McLafferty (amoung others). I will of course end the lecture on the future of analytical chemistry and where I see it going. I cannot give a analytical chemistry talk without discussing my favorite instrumentation - 2D-GCTOFMS. Very much looking forward to this lecture!
