Introduction
The sbP is 4 man Rock & Soul experience made up of 3 amazingly talented musicians from New England and me, Stephen, a former choir boy from Louisville.  After crafting our sound for nearly two years, we went into 2008 with the goals of performing at least twice a month in NYC and recording a live album.  We achieved those goals and now audiences can enjoy our debut, The Music of Transition and 3 singles which we released in 2011, Mirror Love, Life Takes a While and Sad Runner.  All are available on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Napster and eMusic... GO GET EM!

The sound of The sbP.....is a blend of Soul, Rock, Funk, Blues and World Music.  The play on timing and song structure comes from our varied musical training in classical, jazz, and gospel styles.  My band mates, Ben, Chris and Dave all attended Conservatories, while my training as a musician has come from settings that are a bit off the beaten path.  Music as I knew it, began with the big, bold sound of late 20th century Gospel Music, then shifted abruptly to French, German, Italian, Latin & Croatian works throughout my formal music education.  An important pit stop, was studying Jazz with the legendary Judy Bailey at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in Australia.

As far as my popular music influences..... When I watch our performances...... I see all kinds of musicians come out in my delivery.  From singers at my home church, Bethel Baptist Church back in Louisville, to Mick Jagger, to that guy from Blues Traveler to Bird and the Bee and yeah... I'll admit it... when I look at our videos I see my own twisted versions of Tina Turner, Mary J. Blige, Prince and Beyonce peek out too.... What are ya gonna do right!

Also, I know that my songwriting comes DIRECTLY from artists like: Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Mariah Carey, Jill Scott and Rob Thomas.

Back to the story of The sbP:

Winter 2009-2010 was a busy time for us, we launched CORNUCOPIA: An explosion of Design, Dance, Spoken Word, Music and Activism ...and a chance to contribute to the GLOBAL SOLES (www.globalsoles.org) initiative which gives shoes to children and others in need around the world.  We were proud to have partnered with Littlefield NYC (which was then a new NYC venue) in Gowanus, Brooklyn and with the American Theatre of Harlem for CORNUCOPIA II, which took place at South Oxford Space in Brooklyn on May 15 2010. On February 5, 2010 The sbP performed in one of the early LIVE @ Best Buy Concert Series events in Union Square, NYC where we made some new fans and debuted our current singles.

In the summer of 2010, fans could hear our song 23 on WBLS New York (107.5 fm) as part of the “Take the Blame out of HIV” ad campaign by CAMBA (www.camba.org) a Brooklyn-based Multi-Service Non-Profit organization.  The of Summer 2010, which we re-named The Summer of The sbP, began on June 21st at 1pm on the Central Park Dairy Lawn as we performed in the 2010 Make Music New York. The most exciting performance during The Summer of The sbP was for the 2010 SUMMER IN THE SQUARE Festival (sponsored by LIVE @ BEST BUY and WHOLE FOODS) in Union Square, NYC on July 8th  where we performed for over 1000 new fans!  We were also proud to have partnered up with KASHI FOODS to spread their healthy goodness to crowds at most of our 2010 summer shows!

For the Fall/Winter 2010-2011, we put a team in place to record 4 Singles: Mirror Love, Life Takes A While, Sad Runner and Mirror Love –The Celebration Mix-.  Mirror Love was released in March, Life Takes a While in May and Sad Runner in June, others will be released thoughout 2011.

Our new music is polished and dynamic, but has roots in how connected we are to the grooves, because we performed this collection of songs for about a year before recording them.

During the summer of 2011, fans have been able to hear us on stations across the country via iheartradio link here: http://www.iheartradio.com/new2/artists/i/339306?psid=470318 and LIVE at the BMI 7 World Trade Center Fesitval on July 15th Link here: http://www.bmi.com/events/entry/551913

Musically, Ben is all about the SOUL, Dave is a Renaissance Man that gives me the beat I need when I need it... and Conly... Well, Conly is our BLUES BROTHA!  Me? I'm just the guy who is doing everything he can, to keep doing what he loves to do, with the people I love to do it with.

Lastly, on a personal level, all of us are about giving.  The guys teach music to hundreds of kids around NY, NJ and CT, while I proudly work in the area of HIV and Diabetes Prevention and Awareness in Brooklyn, NY.

Thanks for taking time to get to know us!

Stephen, Ben, Chris & Dave
