The point I find interesting in this article besides the headline is that "police nationwide were convicted of firearms violations at least at a 0.002 percent annual rate. That's about the same rate as holders of carry permits in the states with "shall issue" laws."  This tells me that the people who go through the hassle of getting a concealed carry permit are not the people we should worry about.

Why does Obama and other politicians pursue laws that will not prevent the crimes that  they are using to justify the laws?  Do they forget that part of the definition of criminal is some one who breaks laws?  I am open to laws that have a reasonable chance of stopping these crimes but I have yet to hear a proposal for such a law.  Given the number of laws broken before the first shot is fired, I think we need to first work on fixing and enforcing existing laws (like addressing the number of people who legally cannot own a firearm and yet can pass the NICS check).  Until the existing laws are fully enforced and problems with the existing NICS check system fixed, I do not see how we can expect new laws to do any better at preventing these crimes.  Especially when the laws being proposed would not have been broken by the criminals committing the acts used to justify them.

LED strips that I have been working on are ready for prime time and will be used in this weekends service +Church by the Glades. Here is a glimpse of them taken during Thursday nights rehearsal.

I just passed my Technician and General level Amateur radio test. Now, time for me to get some FPV gear and build a couple aircraft to put it on.

Anyone know make and model of these brushless motors. I need enough details to figure out what props I can use with them on a quadcopter.

Today, I got an email from my congressman with the title "SURVEY: Your Priorities for Congress in 2014".  It had a link to a survey that I found offensively biased (see attached picture for the contents of the survey).  So, I sent him the below response:

Dear Congressman,

This Survey is horribly biased as it only presents options for one side of the issues.  It does not allow for people taking the survey to present opposing viewpoints.

Examples:

"Building upon or improving health care reform" assumes that the past health care reform is good enough to build upon.  It is not.  I think health care is a priority but I also think the priority is to reduce regulations (the total pages of the law and associated regulations should be less than the number of words in the US Constitution).

"Enacting background checks for all gun sales" assumes that background check will have a positive effect on criminal gun possession.  Problem is we are not enforcing current background check laws.  Why pass new laws when the current ones are not being enforced?  Colorado just passed similar laws and three legislators lost their jobs over those laws.  Personally, if a law is not being enforced, it should be repealed so the priority should be ether to increase enforcement of existing laws or repeal them.

"Reducing the influence of money in our elections" assumes that the problem with the election system is the influence of money.  But how have laws like this in the past addressed the issue?  If they helped with the issue, why is it still a problem?  Personally, I think they made things worse as only the people who know how to navigate the laws will have influence in elections.  We need more voice to the people which means we need things to be simple, not more complicated.  I think it should be a priority to repeal such laws.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time you have put out a horribly biased survey and it offends me.  It makes it clear to me that you are not interested in hearing from your constituents, like me, that have opposing viewpoints.  Politicians that do not care what their constituents think is a huge problem and one of the reasons why I think congress is so dysfunctional.

I'd love to hear why you think this is an unbiased survey and/or how input from constituents like me that have opposing viewpoints impacts how you vote in congress.  But given the number of bills you sponsor/cosponsor that your constituents on http://www.popvox.com/member/rep-ted-deutch-fl/ oppose (10 out of 11 currently active bills are opposed by your constituents), I see very little evidence to suggest you listen to your constituents.  I do track your votes compared to how I want you to vote using www.popvox.com and will vote this year based on that record.

Using the laser site on a live pistol as a laser pointer?  Wow, I know I should not use my florescent orange demo gun as a flashlight due to concerns of developing bad habits with gun handling, but this is way over the line and, at least in my case, it is a weapon light mounted to something that is clearly and completely plastic.
