- WCVB NewsCenter 5Anchor/Reporter, present
NewsCenter 5’s Jim Lokay is co-anchor of the station’s weekend morning newscasts. Lokay anchors the 5 to 7 a.m. weekend EyeOpener, as well as the Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. newscasts.
He also contributes to the weekday EyeOpener newscast as a general assignment reporter.
He came to WCVB-TV in October of 2011 from KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Penn., where he served the station as a transportation reporter, a general assignment reporter and a fill-in anchor on several newscasts.
During his six-year tenure at KDKA, Lokay hosted or co-hosted a variety of non-news programs including the KDKA's New Year's Eve special and the annual "Children's Hospital FreeCare Fund Telethon."
Lokay also co-hosted pre-game shows featuring the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Penguins and served as an occasional talk radio host at CBS’s KDKA-AM. One of Lokay’s first beats at KDKA-TV was as the station's consumer reporter.
Prior to joining KDKA, Lokay spent two years at Syracuse, N.Y-based News 10 Now (known now as YNN Central New York), where he anchored evening newscasts and served as a general assignment reporter.
Lokay began his journalism career in Pittsburgh as a reporter and editor for Metro Networks. While there, he anchored, edited and reported morning news segments for local radio stations.
Active with local charities, Lokay has served on the board of directors of the American Liver Foundation. He has also supported local chapters of the American Cancer Society.
A native of East McKeesport, Penn., Lokay attended California University of Pennsylvania.
