The kids had Nerd Day at school today. Fortunately, they have a Nerd for a father. :-)

They won't for years, then they'll appreciate me! Yeah, that's the ticket!

Smartphones are ideal! We use a great opensource app on android, but I'm sure there are iOptions. There's also the official Geocaching.com app.

My son's soccer team had their first practice today, and picked the name "Angry Birds" as their team name.

So, Twitter didn't end up being the fount of Blu-ray player advice I had hoped for, so I'm going to try it here. This is the Blu-ray player I'm considering purchasing sometime in the next couple months. Decided I didn't want to pay for the PS3, and this looks like a decent "basic" Blu-ray player. Opinions?

Thanks Dave! Finally, someone talking sense. So, given that, what's your recommendation for a fast-loading player with good-quality picture and is wifi-capable (no adapters, wifi for firmware updates)?

Probably my favorite old LEGO ad. Made even more favorite by the fact that I have a little girl almost that age, now.

"...the thing that’s making it tough is the collection of unconscious processes we’ve developed for living life without having to think too much: habits."
One of the results I want to see from this year is to drop about 15 pounds from my “I-sit-at-a-computer-all-day” belly. I’ve never …

Yeah, It's been 3 days and I'm seeing the difference already, though the cravings are killing me. Keeping mostly in check by focusing on tasty proteins (eggs and meat in the AM, various the rest of the day). Not cutting out carbs completely, but trying to stay within the limits set in the book - 15g of sugar a day (including hidden sugars in foods, so we read a lot of labels now) and 6 carb servings. It's still hard, but some success is helpful.

I swear, I don't give a flying fig if people follow me on Google Plus. If that red number is lit up, I'd better have something interesting to look at.

Introduction
I'm a Dad, Husband, Nerd, and owner of Wallrazer, an independent software development shop. I've been writing and blogging since 1997 and most of my creative output online can be found at http://www.monkinetic.com.

In my little spare time I build a lot of LEGO, and I want to build a welding shop in my backyard.
