#TAPVI & #TSBVI are excited to offer a three part workshop series for parents
on how to teach their children kitchen basics so their child can
navigate the kitchen as independently as possible!

Hurry and reserve your spot by May 5! This workshop is for 10 participants & parents only. Childcare will not be provided.

To reserve contact: Karen Whitty at 512-587-8246 or email mekarefree@yahoo.com

FIRST HOUR - “Let’s get personal in the kitchen” by making sure our children are able to navigate successfully, independently and most important - safely. Parents will learn how to help their VI child set up areas in kitchen for themselves. That way the VI child takes ownership in navigating through their kitchen at home.
SECOND HOUR - “Getting the day started” by making your own breakfast so mommy and daddy can sleep in. Parents learn how to teach their children basic techniques in preparing their first meal of the day; ie cereal, toast, etc. This is a caffeinated exercise. Hint hint...mommy and daddy would love to wake up to a fresh cup of coffee.

Ho! Ho! Ho!  Santa has made the staff at the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute honorary elves. He has asked us to send letters from Santa to very young (under 10) boys and girls. Parents who want their child to receive a Braille letter from Santa should complete the application form at the web address listed below, by December 18. The child will receive a letter in Braille, and the parent will receive a print copy as well. Please share this information widely so that lots of boys and girls get letters. Our elves are anxious to hear from you as soon as possible.
